I can not erase the information on my D-drive.

My D-drive is almost full. How can I erase the information on it. I do not need the information. I wanted the computer to default the back-up to my external hard-drive. There does not seem to be a way to do this. Can you explain how to solve each problem?

There are two ways that I know of.

  1. Click 'start'
  2. mycomputer
  3. select the drive with the files you don't want
  4. right clilck each file
  5. select delete
the other option is use 'add remove programs' in control panel
  1. Click 'start'
  2. control panel
  3. add remove programs

You can actually Format your D drive to erase all the information in it.

You can customize back-up or restore to default in yuor external hard drive when you set it on System Restore/Bac-up in Windows.

RAM is random Access memory if it is too full then you need to shut off some programs and use them one at a time or find older copies of the programs your running which do not take so much space.

Access is denied for opening local disk d

Pending that you have files on your D: Drive that you don't want to lose, DO NOT FORMAT YOUR DISK. Formatting will erase all information on the drive and set it back to RAW settings.

If you aren't sure if you have BitLocker or not, if you didn't install it yourself, you don't have it.

Recommended Actions as follows:

1) Open "My Computer" or "Computer"
2) Right Click on the D: Drive
3) Go to the bottom of the list & click "Properties"
4) Click on the "Security" tab
5) Click the "Edit" button between the two boxes

A second window should open. It is set by default on "Authenticated Users"

6) Click the box beside "Full Control"

If you wish, do the same for "Administrator"

I haven't got the disk that it's asking me for.... I tried to format the laptop... It said it had finished and to re start... So I did.... Now it's telling me the 'application is missing or corrupt' .

The format command is used to completely erase the information on the hard disk so that new information can be written to it. You have erased the disk so there is no application on it. You need to start over from scratch by loading a new operating system into it off of a disk. Then reinstall all applications you want on it. Never format unless you need to start with a fresh drive!

My asus eee pc 1005HA's battery port can no longer charge my laptop or the battery AT ALL! I just want to erase the information and give the laptop away to someone who probably can fix it....I just want...

Take out the hard drive and hook it up to a desktop pc. Navigate to the drive and delete the files through the desktop pc. Then put the hard drive back in the laptop.

When adding additional memory to my inspiron 2200 laptop will it erase all the information already on my computer?

Memory is not used to store data; It is used temporarily while utilizing the system.

Your operating system and user data will be stored on media such as a hard disk drive. So to answer your question, no.

Just bought a hp mini and now has a virus infection. What do we do??

If its possible to burn disc, back the essential data first.
Dont use flash memory/USB device for this purpose. Virus spreads though them easily.

If the infection is small, u might be able to install some good antivirus software like McAfee or Kaspersky [my suggestion] and do a complete scan.

If the antivirus virus fails, the only way out is to re install the operating system. Backup the data first...

After reinstallation u still need antivirus software.
Donot open any drives further.
Install it from a CD.
then erase all drives except C drive[where u installed ur OS]- full erase by right clicking on the drive icon and selecting format option [dont perform quick erase]
Then do a scan to remove any malicious items...

Read this again b4 u proceed. All the best...
Hope this helped

Low memory. C-drive full, but D-drive, which is of equal capacity, is empty.

I have been here too. You physically have one hard drive and the C: partition is full. I used a program called partition magic that will allow you to repartition your hard drive without erasing anything you currently have installed. It is a really cool program, it just takes a while to do the procedure. You can Google several ones, but I suggest the one from Paragon.

I hope that I have provided the correct information that will assist you in the resolution of this issue. If you have any questions, please post back with a comment to this thread.
