Question about Sony HVR-Z1 Mini DV Digital Camcorder
I have a problem with my Sony Z1. It is used quite frequently and had been working fine. However, it has developed a problem with its power. Whenever it is switched on, it will power up, stay on for a few seconds, and then automatically shut down, at which point it powers up again. I have tried several batteries, and mains power, so I know the issue isn't the power source. I have been told that it may be a problem with the cicruit board, which could cost more than the cameras value to repair. However I have been advised by someone else that it could be a small problem, but many engineers would claim it is the circuit board as it's easier than tracing the problem back to a part that could costs about 50p. Can anyone advise if they have had a similar problem, and if I should trust the new circuit board claim or not Thanks in advance for any help
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

It sounds like the tape door is out of alignment, causing stress on the tape and the inside mechanical system. Requires a visit to the service shop.

The 4-digit error code consisting of an alphabet and numbers, which blinks at 3.2 Hz is dislayed on the screen when any problems occur. This 5-character display indicates the "repaired by:", "block" in which the problem occurred, and "detailed code" of the problem.
The error code C:31:22 and C:31:23 indicates T reel fault and S reel fault respectively. Load the tape again, and perform operations from the beginning.
The error code C:31:40 indicates FG fault when starting drum. Load the tape again, and perform operations from the beginning.
Furthermore, press and hold the power button for 30 seconds then try using the Camcorder.
If the issue persists then service is required.
