Picture kept getting darker & darker. Took back off tv and blew dust out of tv then had no picture, completely dark. locate 7 leds (5 green and 2 red, all brightly lit except on circuit board on right side where 4 green & one red leds are located. The green led closest to rear of tv is dimly lit compared to all other leds. Fuse where power cord comes into tv is alright. Where do I go from here I have no matenance manual. My 8 year old Hitachi CRT 53" was a little weak for the last few years (dirty?), but then over the course of 4 or 5 days suddenly got progressively weaker until picture gone completely. Unplugging for a day and and repowering does no good. Will take cover off and look myself but I am reluctanct to spend $153 on diagnosis since it's so old. Any ideas?

If you are saying that the picture is getting darker and you have already tried to adjust the picture through the menu feature on your TV then it is more than likely the cooling fluid around the CRT tubes. Over time the fluid in these tubes gets cloudy and causes your TVs picture to become dull and distorts the color. You can google tv repair kits .com and I believe they will have a kit for your model.
The tv have picture look like a bright dull hallow glow to the screen, yes, than the tv CRT tubes coolant chemicals is bad.Tries websites like Tvrepairworld.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a coolant kit to do the replacement.
Hmm my dad's old t.v. just cut out on him it took awile to turn on this my be the end of ur tv so this might be a power problem but older t.v. loose there colour on the screen my uncle had a like 10-15 year old t.v the screen was like green when it was light but when u turned of the light or closed the blind's it's picture was ok so try that.
i have a 50" r.p. Hitachi, kinda had the same problem, it would go off at different times and i't hit on the back and get it to come back on,but after awlhile i'd have to hit it more and harder to get it back on till it quit, the menu would come on and would show the video 1 ,3 and that in the corner. After paying $75 for a guy to say it wasn't worth fixing i tried myself. Not knowing what i was doing, i checked all wire plug connections. Found 2 that wasn't seated good replugged them and still didn't work then tried the bulbs, just kinda jiggled all 3 one didn't feel the same so just tapped on it alittle and it popped, i guess back into place, anyway turned on the tv and it worked. Had moved it recentlly so i don't know if that is what moved the bulb. Hope this helps, also mine is a '94 model.
The first thing to try is rescanning the Freeview channels as it may
just be a software corruption...if you have the option of "1st time
installation" pick that. Also let me know if there is any buzzing sound coming from the tv..
