SOURCE: Poulan saw will not start

This is not really a solution.... I can't post a comment. I think you know where I was going with the flywheel thing - whether or not the timing is right. I thought you'd pulled the flywheel yourself, and sorry, I'm not sure how to pull it. I'm assuming this is a 2 stroke motor... you might want to just check that the piston is near top dead center when the magnet on the flywheel hits the coil..... you can stick a pencil or anything long through the spark plug hole to give you an indication if the piston is at the top of the cylinder or not. Let me know how it goes!

SOURCE: poulan wood shark 1950 wont start spark plug has

Try to squirt a little gas in the carb and see if it pops or tries to run for a short time. The diaphram in the carb is probably old and hard. That would be the first place I would look.

SOURCE: mtd pro snow blower runs then die

it sounds to me like either the oil pressure switch is being plugged after startup and causint the engine to quit then the plug settles until you start it again and it plugs again easiest way to test is to take the swith and remove the wire to it and see if the engine starts and keeps running, if so then replace the old pressure switch. If this does not solve the problem then the only other thing I can think of is the needle valve is partially pluged, at startup the fuel bowl is full and the engine startsbut after starting the fuel bowl runs low on fuel as it is not filling fast enough and the engine stalls. By the time you try starting it again the fuel bowl is filled again and the whole thing starts all over. Hope This Helps Don

Snow blower runs well then dies to a rough idle

Sounds like it has dirt or water in the carb and is slowing down the fuel flow and starving the engine of fuel.

Not getting any gas

Most people leave gas in the tank year round. This is a problem for engines that are only used a few months out of the year. Old gas will cause the carb to gum up and not allow gas to pass thru into the combustion chamber.

You will need to pull the carburetor part and clean it.

check out this YouTube video. It shows how to clean a single stage snowblower carb

Craftsman snowblower will not kick over

Old gas? Did you pull out the spark plug and see if you have a spark? If the gas is old, drain the tank and line to the carburator, then put in fresh gas. Never put it up for the summer with gas in it. Run it until the engines runs out of fuel, then put it away.

If there's no spark, then you have a coil issue.
