Scan your computer by using a good Antivirus software and remove all the viruses. Also cleanup your computer drives by using 'cleanmgr' command. Delete all temporary files from temporary folder. These steps might help to increase your computer speed.

Block the Startups and Services

When your computer is started up, there might be a number of programs and services running in the background. Some of them would be update checkers, error reporters and the rest are necessary tools like your antivirus etc.

The idea is to disable running the start-ups and service that you no longer need.

  1. Click Start ' Run.
  2. Type MsConfig and press ENTER.
  3. Disable the start-ups and services from the Startup and Services tabs respectively.
  4. Click OK button and restart the machine.

Defragment the Disks

My computer is slow to start up if the disks are too fragmented. Fragmentation refers to dividing a file into several parts which cause slow down in retrieving their contents.

The problem can be solved by defragmenting such fragmented disks using the Disk Defragmenter.

  1. Click Start ' All Programs ' Accessories ' System Tools ' Disk Defragmenter.
  2. Select all the drives.
  3. Click Defragment disks button.

Defragment your Registry

Registry is the database in your operating system containing significant configurations and information. Registry fragmentation too cause my computer is slow to start up issue.

Defragmenting the registry is too simple. You have to download a third party Registry Defragmenter software and install it o your system.

Set Up the System for Best Performance

Setting Windows for maximum performance rather than best appearance could fix the problem. Whenever my computer is slow to start up I perform the same task. The steps are provided below:

  1. Right click My Computer.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Click Advanced System Settings link at the left hand side of the window.
  4. Click Advanced tab.
  5. In Performance frame, click Settings button.
  6. Select the option Adjust for best performance and click OK ' OK.

Disinfect the System

Sometimes computer is infected by a virus and I feel that my computer is slow to start up.. Change the existing antivirus software and download a good one. Update its virus definitions and conduct a full scan through it. Remove all the infected files that found.

Taking anything more than 1-2 minutes to load windows says either there is a processor, or the first 64KB memory bios problem or a operating system/ hard drive problem. To see if the bios is faulty look on the motherbord for the CLRCMOS CLRRTC, or JBAT terminal if its jbat1 put jumper from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 then back again, if its others the pins need to be shorted by a jumper cap. restart pc and see if quicker, if not it may be the CPU and only fitting a new one can illiminate that. If its a windows problem, you will need to run a disk check first, click Start Run, then type chkdsk volume:/r, or for a system files check click start, run then type sfc /scannow then hit enter and follow instructions

User Profile Service failed the logon error message

The User Profile Service failed the logon.
User profile cannot be loaded is a message you sometimes get in Vista or Windows 7. Many suggest editing the registry but for novice users that can be dangerous. Here is an alternative solution.
Logon in safe mode.
  • Restart your computer and log into safe mode: As your computer is rebooting, press F8 Repeatedly after your POST screen. If you get the OS screen, you need to start over.
  • Choose safe mode with networking
  • Open internet explorer and copy and paste this site into the address bar:
http://www.thewindowsclub.com/fix-the-user-profile-service-failed-the-logon-user-profile-cannot-be-loaded
  • Click on Microsoft Fixit which is down the page

If this resolves your issue, 4 thumbs would be appreciated.

Laptop goes blank on startup but still display logon screen

Have you upgraded the OS? At boot start tapping the F-2 key, do not wait for the Dell screen. Take a look at this forum:http://www.computing.net/answers/windows-95/dell-s-bios-startup-screen/85976.html

My windows 7 screen shows userinit logon has stopped and some white screen flashes for 1 second and disappears please give trouble shoot details.Thanking you

Buy the real version. We can't even begin to help because we don't know what has been omitted from the OS or added to it. Or even in what way it has been modded to allow it to run without Windows activation.

Start up is very slow and its hanging all the process is stopping with hang what can i do will u pls help me to come out of this problem

this problem may be attributed to many programs loading during start up

Startup tasks can be easily disabled with the help of a utility by Microsoft called Autoruns. You can download Autoruns from this link. After download, unzip and run Autoruns.exe . It will load like snapshot below. Click on Logon tab as shown in red circle in picture below.

autoruns-snap3.jpg

Logon tab shows all the tasks which are automatically start every time windows starts. Have a close look and disable some of the tasks which you don't need at startup. For example, in some computers, at logon, web cam software, acrobat reader, real player up-dater, yahoo messenger , etc. applications start running while you may not be needing the all the time.

To disable un-necessary items to load at logon, simply un-check those items in the log-on tab as above. These applications can be started later when needed from start menu. After un-checking, just restart your computer and see the difference.

Unable to logon

I've faced this issue before, after lot of research i found that OS Reinstall is your only way out (Repair can work sometimes). Alternative is, if you have other user accounts - you can login and create a new account to use (success rate : low)
