Question about Heating & Cooling

Open Question

I have a Gemini 2, vep 90m propane heater. It runs for about 10 seconds when I turn it on, then shuts off with a clicking sound. The same thing happens when I turn the thermostat knob to "test" This unit does not have a pilot light and thermocoupler that I can find.

Hi the thermocouple is a long copper wire that goes back to the gas valve from the pilot .

i would clean the flame senser first , then check the pressure switch jump this out , then check the fan control or snap disc jump this out see if it runs if you need A THERMOCOUPLE then honeywell universal will do

SOURCE: I have a Rinnai Tropic ventless propane heater. I

The thing with these is over the summer months when they are not in use they get dust inside the ODS safety pilot. When that dust gets in there it cuts down on the oxygen inside and the safety simply shuts down because it was designed to do that. What you need to do is flush the pilot and allow it to dry. I use a product caller but you could use shop air or even a soda straw to blow out the pilot. I used to sell these thermocouples for ODS systems and they are not cheap. Most times they do not solve the problem either because the pilot is dusty. A brand new one won't solve your problem and a cheaper thermocouple don't work on these. More HERE

Here is the whole thing for $52 not a bad price
The thermacouple alone for these cost nearly as much by itself.

Lights while holding primer/pilot button then runs out of propane within seconds. If you wait a minute it builds up then does the same thing like the propane tank is empty but it is full.

Turn off the propane tank and disconnect the heater hose from the tank. Wait 5 minutes and reconnect the heater hose/regulator to the propane t. Turn the tank valve on very, very slowly until it's completely open again. Now, try lighting the heater. If you are using a 20lb LP grill type tank, that should solve your problem.

Hope that helped.

I own a 31' trailer which has an ATWOOD G6A-8E RV Water Heater, 6 Gal electronic ignition, 2 yrs ago the pressure relief valve would open up and empty the hot water tank completely, it did this several...

Most electronic ignition models only show the red light if there is a problem, (did not ignite) for one reason or another. To start with, make sure your propane is on, and you have a good flame at stove top burner, just to be sure the water heater is getting propane, and all air is bled from the line, which may cause water heater to go into check. (red light) If it does, shut switch off, and retry. Let me know what happens. As far as pressure relief opening and emptying the water heater, and your sure it's not a faulty pressure relief valve, then there's 2 things to start with checking. 1st, does the water seem extremely hot, thus a possible faulty thermostat &/or ECO . Secondly, if the incoming water pressure is too high, that will also cause it to leak bad. Try installing a pressure regulator (usually 40 psi.) at your hose connection. Let me know what you find.

The fan limiting switch is acting up. It should stay running until lower temp is reached. It will cycle until the temp stays below or at the low setting. Limit switches are adjustable.

Sound like the blower motor is burning out. after it has run for a while, shut off the power to your furnace, then fell the motor. if the motor is really hot(be careful) then its starting to burn out. This is a very common symptom of this.
