SOURCE: paper jam

There is a sensor in the back that lets the printer know the paper has exited the fuser. It is probably broken off if paper is getting stuck back there.

Also check for paper remnants that are jammed. This may require removal of the fuser.

SOURCE: Will not print

This usually happens when the paper tray is set to the incorrect paper size.
This printer determines what size paper is installed in it by the little "fingers" on the left side of the tray. When you adjust the paper tray, it determines how those fingers are positioned, and therefore, how the switch reads the paper size.

If the tray setting is off, even by one little click, then the machine may read the paper size as other then letter. If this happens, you send a letter size job to the printer, and it doesnt think it has letter size paper, it will tell you to put letter paper in the MPF feeder.

If the tray is definately set to letter, but the machine still thinks it does not have letter, then the tray or the switch that reads the tray is defective, but 99% of the time it is just the tray is not set correctly.

The MPF door can be open or closed 100% of the time with NO EFFECT on how the printer works.

SOURCE: Dell 922 All-in one ink jet printer paper feed

Normal 0 I suggest you get a sheet of Card Stock (Heavy paper) and place it in the feed way. Then press the print button applying a slight amount of pressure on the Card Stock so it will feed through the printer. The reason for this, is in some cases I have been able to clear the paper track of debris that was deposited there over time.
Worth a try, as I have fixed a number of printers this way, saving costly repairs.
Hope this helps. Bud

Constant Paper Jam

check the wheels that pick it from the tray.
If they feel smooth, try to put some tape on them and rip it back off.
This cleans the wheels. Also try a new pack of paper and check if it\'s set to plain paper and not to heavier or coated paper

How to load evelopes HL 2140

Brother Hl 2140 Printing on thick paper, labels and envelopes 2
When the back output tray is pulled down, the printer has a straight paper path from the manual feed slot through to the back of the printer. Use this paper feed and output method when you want to print on thick paper, labels or envelopes.

Open the back cover

Open the manual feed slot cover.

Using both hands, slide the manual feed slot paper guides to the width of the paper that you are going to use.

Using both hands, put one piece of paper or one envelope in the manual feed slot until the front edge of the paper or envelope touches the paper feed roller. When you feel the machine pull in the paper, let go.

• Put the paper into the manual feed slot with the side to be printed face up.
• Make sure that the paper or envelope is straight and in the proper position on the manual feed slot. If it is not, the paper or the envelope may not be fed properly, resulting in a skewed printout or a paper jam.
• Do not put more than one piece of paper in the manual feed slot at any one time, as it may cause a jam.
• If you put any Media (paper, envelope and so on) in the manual feed slot before the printer is in the Ready state, the media may be ejected without being printed on.

I have a Dell 5210N mono printer. And I want to use the manual feed tray as a second paper drawer for letterhead paper only, ie leave a whole stack of paper in the manual feed. Then when I select manual...

Check the software provided or installed on your Computer you use for work(printing software), look for print properties, check for print settings, look for manual Feed, Under manual Feed, set it for letterheads, however this has to correspond with the Applications you are using to print letterheads out of( under print, into the preferrences you should be able to have the settings as well). If your printer software does have these settings, then you will have to do it Manually upon every print.

Printer won't print documents. Green light on

Hmmm, try feeding a sheet of paper into the manual feed slot... you might have inadvertantly sent a Manual feed job, and the printer is waiting for a sheet to be fed by you.
