Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

Hi. I have an old MediaCenter Pioneer KH-8855. I tried to repair the turntable. Got the motor and made a metal base to fix it. But the motor does not have hid own pulley. The pulley I have is another, high, so I had to get down the motor. It is not good speed. Where can I get the proper pulley? Any idea? Thanks from Spain.

Pioneer turntable PL443 hangs in endless start/stop loop

there are 2 little sheet metal parts mounted on the big center spur wheel. The upper sheet metal part is moved by the lower one. To do this, there has to be some friction between both sheet metal parts, but not to o much.

I have an old Pioneer stereo auto turntable PL-5.It is rarely used and worked fine until my grandson started to turn the turntable by hand and I think backwards. Now it speeds up and races. Can this be fixed...

if the speed is constantly fast the drive belt may have ridden up on the top part of the motor pulley.inspect and refit.if the speed varies check operation of 33/45 switch.

What does error 7201 on the mk3's mean?

You can't fix. THis is a disc error code. This means that the Traverse assembly is damaged in some way. Only way to repair is to replace.

I would suggest contacting a qualified service technician for assistance with this.

My pioneer PL990 turntable, the pitch wavers.

try cleaning the inner ring on the underside of the actual turntable platter and also the motor spindle using isoprynol alcohol or use neat clear spirits like bacardi/vodka with cotton wool etc. if black residue comes off either the platter or the motor spindle that will be residue from the old belt that could cause the fluctuation in speed? good luck.

I have just unearthed my pioneer music system from the loft (PL-Z93) and the turntable doesn't revolve when I pick up the stylus arm. It also needs a stylus but there's not a lot of point if I can't get...

If you had it in a hot loft, the belt may not be any good. Good news is they are fairly easy to get.
if you lift the rubber mat off the turntable platter you should find two holes in the platter. If you rotate the platter, you should be able to find the motor capstan that the belt will go on. lift the platter off and you should be able to see where the belt will go on it on the underside. put the belt on the platter, keep tension on it with a finger thru one of the holes, place it back in the base and pull the belt over the capstan. if it's too loose you'll need a new belt. Find an electronics supply store and they should be able to get you one. to save you time, Radio Shack probably can't help you.

Motor for pioneer Pl 120 turntable

There are only three possibilities:
1) Find a scrap unit somewhere and salvage the motor.
2) Find an old Pioneer dealer that still has old stock lying around.
3) Get lucky and find one on Ebay.

Pioneer pl 990

Remove any tape from the belt

That is the drive belt for the turntable .
It's not that hard to set up. Take the mat off the platter and wrap the belt around the underneath -slightly-less-diameter portion.

With a pointed end needle or something like it , put the tip between the belt and the platter portion it's wrapped against.
Pull the belt away from that( keeping the rest of the belt on the platter portion) and set it over the motor pulley. This is usually a small diameter brass spindle unit
