Question about Philips Magnavox DVD/VCR Dual Player

3 Answers

I Have been trying to dubb VHS tapes to DVD''s. They record alright, but then when I go to play them on another DVD player they won't play...how do I get them to finalize? I have went through the menu and hit the finalize button before doing any recording, and that works fine for recording off the television, but doesn't seem to finalize when I do the dubbing....how do I correct this problem? I have followed the instructions step by step from the book......I just want to know how do I get the process of finalizing the dubbing. I have the Magnavox ZV450MW8A model of the Digital Video Disc Recorder & Video Cassette Recorder with Digital Tuner

I am using DVD+R when I'm recording and doing any dubbing, but for some reason it doesn't "finalize" the disk after the dubbing and I'd like to know how to go about getting them to finalize so that they can play on another DVD player.....and the recorder I thought automatically did the finalization, but for some reason the disk won't play on my other DVD playes that I have.

I have experienced this issue as well. My remedy was to purchase -R DVDs.

+R DVDs are for newer DVD players. - R DVDs are for older DVD players and will work on the newer DVD players as well.

I hope this solution works for you. Please take a moment to rate this solution.

First, I think that you must use DVD + R blank discs in order for them to play on another unit. Secondly, when dubbing is completed and you *stop* the process, usually the recorder automatically finalizes the disc.

Vhs is stuck in machine. Won't play and won't eject.

There are any number of reasons why it won't play. The loading basket is jammed, the video tape has got tangled up in the mechanical section of the vcr or the loading gears are stripped. Unplug machine and remove top, [screws side and back] if the tape is spewed carefully remove by cutting it and clean tape particles, for any other problem have a technician check it out.

If it won't PLAY VHS tapes it must have a serious mechanical problem (if it even loads) or its heads are glommed up, so it obviously won't record them either. When's the last time you ran a cleaning tape through it?

Solve the load or playback problem and it will probably record.

Time and poor storage conditions are the mortal enemies of tapes. Store the in a 'played

I have a Magnavox ZV427MG9. I follow all directions in manual for dubbing VHS home movies to DVD but when I try to play the DVD back there's nothing on them. What am I doing wrong?

Depending on the procedure you may be pressing the record button instead of the D.Dubbing or Dubbing button. When recording from VHS to DVD you must first, load the blank DVD and VHS home movies, then play the VHS movies, then PAUSE the VHS movie when you want to START recording... then the only the you have to do is pressing the D.Dubbing button or the Dubbing button. If your VHS tapes starts to play after the Dubbing button is pressed you have been successful in Dubbing.

Vhs tapes recorded to DVD+R's

try forwarding the tape to the end and then rewind to the start again, this can help to seat the tape correctly on the spindle . the audio track part of the tape is in a specific region on the tape so misalignment may be the issue with those cassettes.

also try to press the tracking up and down when playing the video

Copy Audio Cd into DVD

Best guess...put audio cd into DVD side, Video tape into VHS side. Set the VHS to record in SP, Then record the cd to vhs. then when you are done recording on the vhs, put a blank DVD in the recorder side, and press dubb to DVD to get it to record from vhs to Dvd.
