HL-5250 report shows fuser and laser life at 0% and PF kit 1 at 12%

The fuser is a separate component to the drum and toner in this printer. It has a much longer life than them but will run out eventually. Sadly a fuser unit is not a commercially available consumable for this printer either. I would recommend contatcing a printer technicain or Brother directly for a quote on replacing this part.

My printer has a message to replace fuser. Is it necessary and what happens if it is not replaced?

Hello,
The fuser is the part that applies pressure and heat to the paper when you print. If you are asked to change it you should pay close attention to the unit when you print; if the unit makes funny noises or smells like burning then you NEED to change it, otherwise you can wait.
Thanks,
Pat

Press 3 and 9 at the same time. This gets you to a hidden counter reset menu. Brother support was not able to give me this information said I had to take the printer to a service shop. Fortunately, one of the shops told me this information. Ooooo. Big secret. What B.S. !!!

Put in newer fuser unit but machine still says to replace

If you want to clear the fuser message you have to be sure you replaced the fuser web. Then go to 25 => counter clear(items 13)=> Clear fuser counter or 36=>counter clear(items 8)=>Clear fuser counter.

Hi Phillip,
If you have changed the drum and toner, then check the fuser unit. The teflon coating on fuser film could be worn.
