Question about Sony KP-51HW40 51" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Weird lines i have and pioneer tv, i think it is 7-10 years old. it is a 55 in rear projection. in the past month i have notice that every 30 min or so a paper thin rainbow line moves slowly from the bottom of the screen to the top, when it is about 60% of the way up a second line will appear as the first one did. these lines will get to the top of the screen and then be gone. it does this for about one or two min at a time. please help, i really don't wanna have to buy a new tv yet. thank you

For past 6 Months The scren was bowing Horizontally and now it has sever ghosting.. What to do this TV is about 8 years old Model Number WS-65807

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Toshiba 52HMX95 DLP has weird gray think line

DLP TVs work projecting light throught a tube covered with mirrors, called the light tunnel.

The gray shadow it is something in the middle of the light tunnel, probably a mirror that has gone out of place when you moved the TV.
