Question about Onkyo TX-SR505 Receiver
SR505 has the Audyssey, self adjusting surround-sound. You set the microphone in the "middle" of the room and the system self-adjusts the speaker balance by producing sounds from each speaker.
Mine runs through the process for all speakers but then a message that says something like "unable to complete process". No other info and no helpful info in the manual.
If I could manually adjust the speakers that would be fine, I'm not that much of a audiophile. But I would like to have more control over the rear and left/right speakers. The manual control seems to make little volume difference - perhaps I'm doing it wrong.
Any guidance is appreciated.
SOURCE: no surround sound
So your saying that you have no rear channel. Some recivers use a single stereo output ic for both sides on the rear speakers. you could have a defect with this IC . Anther thing Im sure you check3ed the obvious ie : the switch is on suround sound? If there is a front to rear fader is it in the middle? Good Luck

I just read over the problem you were having with your Onkyo TX-SR500 receiver. It sound like the unit needs to be setup for all five channels.Sence your symptom says the diplay shows Dolby D3/2.1. According to the owners manual with the remote control look for speaker setup whin the button is pressed the current speaker setup will be shown in the display. Press the preset/adjustment<> to change the current setting to five speakers. the listening mode will automatically change according to the number of channels you selected. Hope this helps. Radiotech

Hey Tad, I have the same problem and perhaps a solution. I just moved to the other SW "pre-out" and it seems to be working..the green light is on . Whatever works i guess.

you cannot control a ps3 with that remote because the playstation 3 only works with bluetooth. I'm sorry to have to tell you. you can purchase a remote that works with your system at any that sells your system.
hope this helped
please rate well.

It looks like the audio output was changed on the player so that it doesn't output 5.1. Enter the setup menu on the player and change DTS to output DTS instead of what be labled as stereo or L/R and Dolby Digital to output Dolby Digital instead of whatever else it is set to.
