CD changer major problem

This is really hard to describe, but one day when ejecting the cd changer, it turned all weird. The changer keeps changing cds, making weird noises. I open it, and it tries to spin to show me the cds, but has trouble, and i can here the motor running but no turning unless i give it a push spin. After that, it doesn't close, and its all weird, it constantly tries to spin after taking the plug out and putting it back in. It seems like maybe something is off the track in the cd changer. Any ideas on how to fix it? Is it recommended that I open it up and give it a try?

Re: CD changer major problem

You probably have a small plastic gear stripped out or a belt slipping and it will need to be replaced. I wouldn't recomend a do it your self repair. This is most likely a job for a professional.

I have a Phillips MC/50. The CD changer keeps changing and won't play, just keeps flipping. If you use the tuner, you still hear the clicks of the CD changer. You have to unplug it.

There is a switch inside the changer that will not release. Most likely the plastic stop it rides on has broken off . This is common when the changer keeps shuffling the disc all the time

Tivoli Audio Music System: CD wont eject

We've had the Tivoli Music System for 3 years. A CD became stuck in the player when I pressed the EJECT button before turning the player on. We tried turning it off and back on, unplugging it for a minute, removing the batteries and unplugging, etc. Nothing worked. I finally turned the player upside down in my lap, then turned on the CD player, and it said LOADING! Progress!!! I turned it right-side up and hit EJECT, and it worked like new. The CD loading mechanism had become bound up and simply needed a different "attitude" adjustment. Don't give up too early in attempting to fix these players on your own.

Bose does not release their schematics or parts lists, effectively making themselves the only repair center for their products. Your only safe repair method is to contact the service/repair center at They will likely offer you a flat rate repair or credit towards the purchase of a new unit.

CD changer eject button does not work. Three discs are inside. Changer works. Good sound is produced. But unable to eject disc changer to change discs.

Inspect the tray or door to see if there is a very small hole in it. If so, this is an 'emergency' ejection hole and a standard paper clip, unfolded, can be inserted there to manually eject the tray. This is a real common problem caused by the slippage of a clutch mechanism that is supposed to protect the tray mechanics from being damaged if the tray is somehow impeded during its travel.  It must be tougher than rocket science to properly design this feature -

CD malfunction

It sounds like you have put a disc in the tray that the system can not read, so it will just keep trying to read the disc over and over again. If you turn everything off by the plug and wait a few mins the whole system should stop. Put the plug back in and as soon as you turn your system on, try and press the disc open key before the lens gets a chance to start reading it again. If this does not work you may just have a disc jammed. So you will have to get someone to check it out for you if you do not understand what you will be doing, because you may do more harm than good to your system. Good luck.
