I' having the same problem posted by lisar249 on sept 6. There is always a pup up telling me that "optical devise is locked - Acer elock activate" I cant use my DVD/CD.
I tried to solve the problem running services.msc as recommended but, there is not application known as "elock service " on the list of programs displayed by services.mcs, so I have no alternative to disable. It give the impression there is no application known as "elock" running.
I have an old Acer Aspire 3620 with the original programs. If there something else to try???
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

Yeah, I was having the same problem. Emulated optical drives are locked too. So I just went ahead to add remove programs and removed Acer Elock Management. It's useless anyways, never used it in my life. My Drives work fine now! So to everyone having this problem: REMOVE ACER ELOCK MANAGEMENT and your drives will get unlocked!
I hope it wld solve...If not buzz me........
My advice for you will be, go to Add/Remove Program, uninstall the acer elock, restart your windows, it should be running just fine. If the problem still persist. Please do come back here for more assistance.
Your rank for my solution is much appreciated!!! THanks
elock service, disable it
start -> run -> type in services.msc
find elock service from the list and disable it by right click properties
startup type disabled and click stop.
this works with some elocks not with all.
I will bet anything the computer you have is an Acer Laptop.
1. Go to www.driverstock.com and download from the site 'elock'.
2. Install and run the program.
3. It will ask you for a password, type one in. (any - just write what you wrote down)
4. Then click on the items and lock them. (Yes I said lock them)
5. Then click on site you want to unlock and enter the password again.
6. All the sites that acer elock had locked will be unlock.
I have a working workaround solution to this problem - save yourself 100usd (what acer requests from the unlocking) and press the ask me button to send me the free(FREE POST TO FORUM) request, Il give you the workaround, will take less than 10 minutes to solve the problem, really not worth it to pay 100usd for something this silly.
Il possibly soon make a video tutorial on how its done but for now, send me a request and il tell you how to get rid of the problem.
