We have the same heater and were told that YES you can run red dye diesel however it can gum up the works and also if the weather gets cold it will gel up!  We were told to run it only in emergency situations and not for very long...

How do u convert from kerosene to diesel

there may be possible ways out there to do the conversion but it may put you and your loved ones in jeopardy. kerosene and diesel fuel have different thermal characteristic during the burning process so the heater designed to run on kerosene may not be capable of handling the burning characteristics of diesel fuel. This may lead to unwanted fire incidents and loss of lives. Best is to purchase heater made for diesel fuel.

Will diesel fuel substitute for number 1 heating oil. cant by that around here

Hi,
Yes, you can burn diesel in there but... you will have more trouble with the heater... it burns crappy and soots everything up...actually the best thing to burn is K-1 Kero in them... that burns the cleanest... and it won't gel in really cold temps...

My heater is a reddy heater 165,000btu. when i plug it up it will ignite, it will get a flame for about ten seconds and it shutdown. i recently replaced the ignitor because it broke and replace the fuel...

I would definitely stop burning off road diesel as it is dirty.Remove the top section of the heater and clean the fire eye with windex and a terry cloth rag, and run K1 kerosene it burns so much cleaner. Also make sure that fuel is not an issuecheck fuel filter, fuel lines and don't forget the screen in behind the nozzle.

Have a ready heater pro 115, never a problem, just wondering if i can burn red die diesel, same as fuel for reefers in trucking, or will this screw it up, thanks Robert

I run put the red diesel into my heater straight from the tank that fills my farm tractors. I have been running it close to 10 years, now. No problems. Smells a bit different. Some folks complain that in extremely cold the diesel gets too thick to flow but I haven't experienced anything of the sort. It might be a localized problem depending on cold weather additives.

Grade of fuel required for DESA heater

Dave you can use all three types that you have listed.

The pump is typically set for Number 2/ Diesel Fuel and if you run Kerosene the unit will run a little bit hotter but with a 3E359B you will typically run diesel due to the amount it will use and the increased cost of kerosene over diesel fuel.

Number 1 is similar to kerosene and is the fraction that boils off right after gasoline.
Number 2 is the diesel fuel that trucks and some cars run on, leading to the name "road diesel". It is the same thing as heating oil.

I have a portable forced air heater Model R55A heater size 55,000/Hr can I use diesel fuel instead of kerosene?

You can, but prolonged use of diesel fuel will burn out the cone faster. Too hot. And it stinks alot worse than kerosene.

Valcun Oil burning heater

usualy oil burners burn #2 fuel oil which is the same as diesel, except for the dye. I knew a guy that burned the oil from a tank in hid diesel truck, worked fine except it was the bottom of the tank and dirty as hell. cost him a couple filters but we were out of barrels lol

Mr Heater MH75KT - won't start with diesel

If the MH75KT is the correct model, then it is a Kerosene only heater. Fuels, like oil and diesel all have different ignition points.
