I did try your suggestion but it did not work
The power button comes on back and front of the tower, but the tower does not run you hear nothing! once in a while the tower fan will start for a couple of seconds and then stop.

If you mean that it kept restarting, this is a sign that the bios is corrupt and you will have to remove the side of the pc tower and on the motherboard look for a 2 terminal commector, this can be labelled CLRCMOS, CLRRTC,or a 3 pin JBAT1, there will be a plastic cap if its a JBAT1 terminal, put from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3 then back again, if its the others then they have to be shorted by placing a cap across the two terminals. restart pc and press f2 to reset time and date and save and exit, it should then boot back up.

from what you said i assumed you had power but it wouldnt turn off, then it would turn on but show no screen; if the above check gave no result i think maybe your processor is faulty as that is what takes over after the bios has done any check, especially if the power dies after a few seconds.

the lights remaining on means that there is power getting to the motherboard from the power supply unit, but when it gets to the processor it stops, this can mean that the motherboard has failed to power the processor bcause of a fault at the processor connection socket (ZIF socket)or the processor itself has failed due to the motherboard or simply failed itself, a pc repairer can do this if you are not able as both need checking for faults

Why won't my COMPAQ PRESARIO SR2032X desk top

Please turn off the computer, start hitting F8 at the start-up and then choose last known good configuration. If this does not work, choose Safe mode options.
If still does not work, please try to restore the computer to factory settings. You can try to hit F11 or F10 at the startup to initiate recovery.
If not working, please tell me what error message you get on the screen.

My computer has recently decided to stop working. I can turn on the tower and the monitor to power it up and the tower does it's normal thing like it is working, the screen on the other hand stays...

If you mean you didn't get any display in your monitor the first solution is u must reinsert your memory and memory slot.if still have the same issue confirm your monitor is connected to your tower properly.if you still have the same issue just replace your memory (ram).thank you.

My compaq presario laptop keeps getting an error: 0211 keyboard error it says press F1 to resume or F10 to setup but neither one of them does anything when I push them. Can this be fixed?

1. Turn off computer and unplug power cord.
2. Disconnect all external devices(open up the computer tower and then )
3. remove battery
4. press power button and hold for 10-15 seconds
5. plug power cord back into computer and press power button.
6. Check LED’s and listen for power supply fan.
7. If LED’s are on or power supply fan starts spinning, watch for boot screen
8. If coputer begins to turn on, turn it off.
9. Reconnect battery and external devices.
10. Press power button and make sure computer starts.

This should work....all the best

My monitor has kicked into sleep mode and won't "wake up".

Unplug all the Cables from Compaq Presario 5103 CL and leave the Keyboard, mouse and monitor cable pluged in.

Now make sure the power cable of the monitor should be pluged in and the power cable of the tower should be pluged in.

Now to check if the montor is fine just unplug the video cable only which will show no input signal on the screen. If it shows this signal the monitor is fine. Plug back in the video cable.

If the monitor is going to sleep mode it might be possible that the old computer ( Compaq Presario 5103 CL ) is in stand by mode. hit any key on the keyboard and it should come back .

If it is not in the stand by mode then do one thing. Check the same monitor with the new computer. If it is working. Perfect ..!

Do one thing now ..!

Unplug all the cables from your old system and then press the power button for 30 sec and let it go. Now plug the keyboard, mouse and the monitor try again.
If it works Perfect. If not ..!

Then you need to open the tower and check on the processor FAN is it running..? If its not running you will not get the display as the fan is responsible for the display on the screen. Otherwise...!

Check the Tower possibly the Tower is not getting the power.

Try these steps and let me know If it works

On my desk-top presario

HP/Compaq has had alot of power supply issues with this series of computers. Do you have another power supply you can try in this system? If the light is flashing rapidly, it is usually a power supply. Fairly cheap and easy to replace.
