Get the latest software update from Philips website. I hope you live outside the United States because an SA2640/02 is not a US-compatible model - it was designed for overseas.

My Philips GoGear MP3 won't turn on. Is there any way it can get fixed? I've tried resetting it but nothing happens.

(I "ASSUME" you charged it, or tried to). HOW OLD is your MP3 player??
If it's pushing 2yrs old, or played/used on a fairly regular/daily basis,
.....YOU MAY JUST NEED A NEW BATTERY.

Carefully peel up the UPC code strip on back of player. (There is a tiny screw underneath it)
Carefully remove screw. (The snap notches are 'L' shaped inside the edges of the case).
Gently slide/pry open the backside of the case, taking care NOT to break the snap notches.
Open case, REMOVE BATTERY. FIND/MATCH BATTERY TYPE. (look in WATCH batteries).
Place the new battery in player. Close case, restart/turn on player.

My Phillips GoGear Vibe won't go to the main menu. It freezes up on the ViBE sequence. I tried soft resetting and turning it back on but it didn't work!

Reset the player using the pinhole. If it freezes again then please update the firmware on the player to resolve the issue

To update the firmware perform the below task:

  • Download the newest version of the Philips Device Manager:
  • www.usasupport.philips.com - change your country/language as needed
  • Enter in your exact model #
  • Click on the link for your exact model #
  • Click on the Software & Drivers section
  • Click on "Firmware Upgrade Software"
  • Install the new Device Manager
  • Open and run the "Update" tab

If you need any further help, please email us back so that we can continue to work on a solution.

Stuck on Scyn screen!

It is normal for it to display the "Do Not Disconnect" screen.
It is not normal for the Windows Media Player not to recognize it.
If you have Windows Media Player 11, update the firmware.
If the PC is not recognizing the device:
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Try another USB port
Reset the player

If that fails:
Download the newest version of the Philips Device Manager:
www.usasupport.philips.com - change your country/language as needed
Enter in your exact model #
Click on the link for your exact model #
Click on the Software & Drivers section
Click on "Firmware Upgrade Software"
Install the new Device Manager
Open and run the "Repair" tab

If still nothing:
Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.

If these methods fail, call Philips to see if you are still in-warranty.

My mp3 wont turn on

You may have to change the battery - difficult with this model.
•Battery capacity: 750 mAh
•Battery Type: Li-ion

But before you try that, go ahead and get the new software for the model from Philips website - specifically, the new Device Manager, and runa Repair.

My mp3 player is stuck on a white screen

Really hot = probably dead - not normal

Reset the player first.
The run the Repair function in the Philips device manager - if these two methods do not fix the player, then I am afraid it is toast.
