Question about Tappan Kitchen Ranges
When I press the bake button and turn the temp setting to desired temp, it shows 'on' and the temp on the display for about 5-10 seconds and then turns off. Same results with the broil mode. However, if I press and hold the bake button it will light and heat up, release button and turns off. The igniter doesnt glow unless button is held. The burners work fine on the top. I also have another tappan range that was doing the same thing so I replaced it with this one. We are wondering if it could be a problem with the gas supply?....furnace does seem to work fine though. When I first hooked this range up it did heat on its own up to about 375 and then started turning off, now wont start without holding button...same as the other Tappan range we were using.
The button your holding is the switch that tells the board that the consumer whats to bake.so if holding the switch causes that message to work[or oven to heat] and letting go of that button ,then no work .its that button ,but its all part of the board .just that part of its funktion is broken.,if it was lets say your oven ignitor or oven gas safty valve ,the board/oven control[the one with the button]would continue to try after you have selected bake [pushed button]or would give error code.hope that helps you. God bless you , tom
