Question about GE Profile JVB67H Kitchen Hood

1 Answer

GE Profile Range Fan speed switch doesnt turn off

The cooking range vent (downward draft system) will go up, but the fan speed control switch stopped being able to be turned off. It still goes from Hi to Lo speed, but since cannot be turned off, its always running if the vent part is raised up. I have no idea what to do. I couldnt even feel any screws around it that I could open and look inside it.

Thanks

What is wrong with our GE Profile Gas Range? After using the broiler and two burners simultaneously, the electronic controls go black. We can manually light stovetop burners but oven does not work.

On the back of the stove are 2 blower fans just under the cooktop. They are cooling fans to keep the controls from overheating. They are a long tube type fan and are left and right side. My guess is one or both are not coming on. They are controlled by a round disk temp control also under the cooktop. At a preset temp these fans should come on and keep all the control area cool enough to stop any damage. The fans need tested and maybe the temp control needs replaced.

Thermador CVS36R Cook'n'vent vent won't go down and fan stopped workin

You probably will find that the vent is clogged with grease. A switch device works with the vent so the fan operates only when the vent is open and does not operate when the vent is closed. Things should get back to normal after a thorough cleaning unless the fan is defective and won't operate at all.

Vent on oven does came on by itself. The oven is hot and the vent does not go off.

The oven MAY have a thermal switch that forces the fan on when hot.

If it stays on when fully cool then there is a problem.

I have a GE Profile Spacemaker model JVM1660SB005, maufactured in November 2000. I attempted to change a burned out bulb on the left side. I did not check the manual to see how to remove the bulb, nor...

I regularly see (and repair) this light and / or fan failure on model JVM1660SB005 and most any model of over the range microwave.
The problem is on the controller assembly, which I regularly repair very affordably.

At my Web site, you can get details, plus I have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

This light failure often occurs when a bulb goes out and the filament shorts, or when the bulbs are removed or installed without first unplugging the oven from the power line. Either can cause such a failure on the controller.

The lights can can be inoperable or stuck on or stuck in "night light" mode. Sometimes this will similarly affect the fan operation or inside light, too.

the fan is designed to run after the unit has cooked its new technoligy the reason it does this is to remove all the moister from the inside of the unit as built up moister use to cause rust to form in the base of the unit .. so its perfictly normal

however the fan should not run for more than 1 minute.

GE Microwave Profile Spacemaker Runs on its own

Your microwave turning on by itself is a "self preservation feature" of the GE Profile Advantium and maybe some other models. Read the manual, When your over the range oven gets warm enough, for whatever reason the venting fan comes on until a satisfactory oven temperature is reached. You are not permitted to shut the vent fan off. Also it seems a temperature near room temp must be achieved before it shuts the fan motor off, it is very annoying. We had to return our Advantium because of fan noise. I configured the ovens vent fan to the recirculate direction because we do not have a vent duct that exits the house over our range. When the vent fan acting as the ovens cooling fan automatically turned on we would have to leave the house to hear each other talk. Too bad we really liked the oven other than that major problem. GE spacemaker Profile XL1800 vent fan will not shut off

It may be a bad door switch, a loose door switch mount, or a problem on the control panel, such as a sticky relay.

I would suspect a sticky relay first, but the door switches should be checked.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical information on safety, disassembly and door switches at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

If you need your control panel assembly (smart board) repaired, we do that for $39.95 nationwide.
