Hello, I only try a few tricks on my computer, but they may help you. Sometimes the computer loses track of where the devices are plugged in.

It may help to unplug the speakers if they are external and then shut down the computer. Then plug them back in and hope the Device Manager identifies the speakers as a new hardware addition.

Many computers will then establish a path internally for making the speakers work.

Now if you have internal speakers, the speakers may have become isolated or lost from the startup routine. Get in the Device Manager and see what selections are checked off. Sometimes they use an Icon in the submenu and this shows which pieces of Hardware your computer knows about. Sometimes it is as simple as activating an Icon to change the duties of the hardware. Remember to use the APPLY button if provided.

Next, your Driver may have been corrupted. Depending on the Browser you are using, you may have a Backup Driver in the unused Memory which on most computers is in the D drive. You would use the ADD/DELETE program function to put that Driver back into the "C" drive of the computer as a normal running program.

You still may have to Download a Driver from the Manufactuer to replace a missing or corrupted Driver. Go to your Manufactuers site, or the Operating programs site and look for what you need.

I hope I have helped. Please rate my info. I am not a computer expert and there certainly may be better ideas for you. But I have had the same defects and bailed myself out by using the ideas I shared.

My sound is real funny like chipmunk sounds

If the pitch of the sound being played by your computer speakers has changed dramatically or songs and videos are playing faster or slower than they typically should be, the problem is with the sound speed on your computer. This could mean a hardware issue with your speakers or sound card or a software issue with the program that you're using to play a digital media file.

Double-check your speaker connections. If one of the audio cables that runs off of your speakers isn't plugged correctly into your computer, this could cause the audio coming from them to speed up or slow down. Make sure all cables are properly connected to their proper inputs and try to play your audio again. Update the driver for your computer's sound card. Go to the website of the company that made your sound card and look for your unit's product page. Under the "Support" section, click on the download link for the latest device driver. Once the file is on your computer, double-click on it to install it. Then restart your computer and try to play your audio again. Make sure you haven't accidentally sped up or slowed down the media file you are trying to play. Many digital media programs like iTunes or Windows Media Player have features that allow you to play a song or video in slow or fast motion. If this becomes accidentally selected, the audio will also be in slow or fast motion. Click "Stop" to stop your media file from playing and then click "Play" again to allow it to play normally. Restart your computer. This will free up system memory when your computer restarts. If your sound was playing too slow or too fast due to an error with not having enough memory to play properly, that error will now be fixed and your sound should return to normal speed. Hope this helps.

Your sound card might be in use by another application.

0xC00D11BA: Cannot play the file
Windows Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with
your sound device, such as a sound card or sound controller. You may
encounter this error message for one of the following reasons:

Your sound device is in use by another program. Quit other programs that may
be using your sound device, and then try to play the file again.
Your sound device is not functioning properly. To troubleshoot the problem,
see the Sound Troubleshooter in Windows Help or refer to your sound device's
documentation.
You do not have a sound device installed on your computer. Install a sound
device, and then try to play the file again.

Sound card?

this could be a result of the software malfunction ...i'm talking about i-tunes,if your computer plays other sounds,it clearly shows that its not a problem with the sound card which is nothing but the hardware for playing sounds in the computer.

for further clarifications revert on this page.
