Question about GE 24 in. Profile PDW7800 Built-in Dishwasher
I have taken out every removable part from the bottom of the dishwasher and cleaned the fine filter, etc and checked for obstruction in the part leading to the pump. It is pumping fine and no water is left standing in the tub upon completing the cycle, but the top rack dishes simply are not getting cleaned or rinsed properly. I don't want to call for service if I can help it. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated! Thanks!
Problem is that the drain valve on the pump is opening at the beggining of the pre-rinse cycle and it stays open during the entire wash and rinse cycle which does not leave enough pressure in the pump to clean the dishes. I replaced the impeller assy, and several little things and finally decided to take the bottom spray arm off and run it with a pot over the spout and noticed that when the pre-rinse was completed the drain door in the pump housing open but did not close the rest of the time. Solution: Find out if there is a replacement valve for the drain system. My solinoid works fine, the door will not close back off as long as the pump is running...

I used paprika to spread a "marker" on both arms to see if water was coming out. I also sprinkled paprika on top of all the dishes to see easily where water was just standing. It turned out that the upper arm was the problem. Hope this helps you diagnose the problem area.
Note: I also had a circuit breaker go bad and had not yet called out an electrician, so I plugged the dishwater into another outlet with a heavy duty extension cord, so it is possible that my problem is related to not having enough current.

Run the dishwasher and observe the spray arm,if split it will spray water down: Also check water in tub, is it filling up sufficiently to get near the heater? If it has a upper spray arm does it spray water? If not you may have a clogged upper spray arm.
