Hell all! Please offer suggestions to the layperson on what to to look at and how to fix. -- please note the product i have is the Aficionado hvt18dfbb (18 bottle - 2 zone cooler) and NOT the Haier product. Got this item used and was told it worked. The panel lights up, the buttons work (+/- temp for top and for bottom), the fans are running and the machine is humming. however:the temperature changes by only one degree! The digital read shows a 1 degree change in 5 days of running. i've taken the back off & vaccuumed the dust out. The circut board has no obvious signes of overheating. what parts or peices should i look at replacing or testing *and how would i test*? Please respond in lay-person terminology so i may best understand what you are offering for solutions! Thank you
There is no compressor on these units. These units use a Peltier cold/hot module where the cold side faces the heat sink and the fan exhausts the heat side. Another fan sends the cool side into the frig. I have the same unit, I am experiencing the same issue. I was looking to change out the Peltier modules (about $7 each) and try that. I did find a replacement Control Board is about $45 and if the Peltier change doesn't work this may be my next step.
This is all good, but where did you locate parts for this HVT18DFBB unit?

Replace the thermostat and/or bad control board. If you don't have electronic repair skills then it would be cheaper to go buy a new one then hire someone to repair it.
SOURCE: THE UNIT DOES NOT COOL ANDY COLDER THAN ROOM TEMPERATURE.
does the compressor run ? if so you could have a low refrigerant charge, a sealed unit resrtiction, leak or defective compressor.
SOURCE: Both zones of the wine
Hello,
Check the thermostat for temperature setting. Also check the condenser
coils and clean them if found clogged with dust. Unplug the wine cooler and
wait for a couple of hours before plugging it again. If you can hear it
running or whining, perhaps the compressor is being overheated. Test
various components such as temperature control knob, evaporator fan,
defrost timer, compressor relay, overload protector and the compressor
motor.
Take care.
