That sounds like its not the timer but the element .some dryers have two elements a low heat, and a high heat it sounds like the high heat element has burned into .

Does not heat up and timer not working?

send brand name and model number so i can help you, also if it's on time dry it should count down even without heat if you have it on more or less the timer will not move without heat.heat comes on until heater cycles off when the heat is off the timer will advance a little, when the heat comes back on the timer stops advancing,it will do this until the clothes are dry.

The dryer does not pass 6 min mark and does not shut off. How would I test a humidity sensor? Thank you for help.

A dryer moisture sensor can stop working without notice, until you notice your clothes being over dried or still wet at the end of the cycle. It is a good practice to test the dryer moisture sensor periodically. There are two types of moisture-detecting sensors for dryers. Once you understand how they work you will see how to test each one.
1. Sensor BarThese sensors contain digits that protrude outwardly. They work on an electrical current and the moisture from the clothing.
The first step to test is to place completely dry clothes in the dryer and turn on the dryer; it should run for a few moments and then shut down right away.
Secondly, place damp clothes into the dryer, turn on the dryer and watch the timer. As the clothes begin to dry the timer will move and shut off.
2. ThermostatThe timer is regulated by the thermostat. The thermostat rests in a closed position. To test this type of moisture sensor, place damp clothes in the dryer. Watch the timer; as the clothes begin to dry, the thermostat should open and the timer will move forward ,eventually shutting off.

I just got this HE dryer and the cloths aren't dry when the buzzer goes off. And the permanent press clothes are wrinkled... HELP! Plus it took almost 3 hours to dry sheets

It could have a faulty thermostat which shuts down to fast in drying mode, be sure and check that the vent is clear and not obstructed at all, thats the only way moisture has to leave the machine and dry the clothes

Kenmore Electric Dryer model# 11064672400 doesn't heat up. Repair guy said that the timer is bad and that is the reason that dryer will not dry. Blower and timer seems to be working, just not heating or...

Lets look at that fried timer
themobilian_519.jpg
A leg on the timer with a big old fat red wire goes down to the heating element. over time the contacts take a beating from the arcing. To test it remove the red wire from the terminal marked RH and clip one lead of an ohmmeter to that terminal. Then check for continuity between that leg and any other terminal on that there timer. if you cannot get a reading. you have a bad timer. Turn the timer knob to various spots on the timer dial to do a thorough test. Onward to today's fabulous timer deal:
You kiddin me $108? That is high even for a fab price. I would do this before buying a new timer.
What can you loose at this point? Remove the timer from the dryer. Take the small shank keeper off the shaft. If it breaks toss it, it ain't nothing but a mechanic stopper anyways. Next remove the 2 screws to the cover and CAREFULLY get that plate off without disturbing the innards. Look for that burn contact and file it down smooth. With any luck ya might get it ta go a while longer. With a price like that the timer ought ta have solid gold contacts. themobilian_520.jpg

Hi our 3 slice dualit toaster gets stuck when you turn the toasting timer and does not switch off. It could burn the house down!

We have the same problem and it has been on all day, and credit to the toaster it has not yet burnt out an element, I am looking to replace the timer as I found that the pivot inside is on a plastic bearing and that has worn, I did find a timer on a web site but cant find it now.

NO HEAT WHEN CLOTHES ARE ADDED

Check to see if vent hose is not restricted. If it goes up inside wall, it could have lint clogging it. Most dryers regulate heat with air flow. Wet clothes can restrict flow even more if vent is clogged or pinched. Air flow is crucial to heat cycle. If the vent is resrticted, heat will rise quickly, but not cool down fast enough to allow heat thermostat to cool down and turn on heating element again. It may seem hot inside dryer but if no air flow it will increase dry time or not dry them at all before timer shuts off. If vent goes up inside wall, buy a small chimney brush and try cleaning out vent from attic if you can.
