A reboot or factory reset if possible will not help with that issue---bad connection somewhere or bad display panel (screen unit).

SOURCE: how do I hook up a DVD player to a proscan 32 inch

Hello,

to connect your TV to your DVD, you will be needing a RCA wire (Yellow, white and Red wire). The yellow stands for video (visual/display), while the read and white stands for audio (sound).

Look at the back of your DVD, look out for Video Out, connect the yellow wire there. Also look out for Audio Out L & R, connect the white and red wire there.

Then turn the back of your TV, you will find Video, and Audio IN, Connect the other part of the wires from the DVD to the DVD, that is, Video for video and audio for audio.

Once you have connected the wires, turn on your TV, and your DVD player, press source on your TV remote to AV, and you will see your DVD displaying on your TV.

That's to hook up your DVD to your TV. Follow instructions carefully and you won't have any problem.

Good luck.

SOURCE: bought a 26 inch proscan from Costco on line. Tv

Hi sglassgold,

Here are steps that may help you fixing the problem. You should prepare tools and multimeter.

I'm assuming that your unit is dead set and your outlet is live.1.Power cord - check the cord it might be opened (no continuity). This is due to frequent bending, pulling. 2. Power switch - check for dry joints, open contact. 3.Check the internal fuse- sometimes the fuse fail because of the power surge, replacing with new one will cure the problem, If this is the case I've advice you to use surge protector/AVR (Automatic Voltage Regulator). However if the fuse blew again this is an indication that you have a shorted parts on the power supply, you may visit the linkhttp://www.fixya.com/support/r8053361-fuse_keeps_blowing for more info. If no reaction and still the unit didn't power up then you have an open parts on the power supply.

4.If you see that the fuse is intact on the board, don't attempt to touch anything because there somefatal components stored electricity enough to hurt you with a simple mistake only.

The next steps should be done by an expert or qualified technician because isolating the problem on the power supply is technical and complicated. I would advice also to replace the entire power supply for your convenience if finding technician there is not possible.

Also check if your unit is under warranty before opening the back panel, it will void the warranty. Avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free or a little charge only.

Hope I helped you.

Have a nice day!

Thanks for using Fixya.

Try changing the input device to something you are sure works. Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

The board it self is probably toast but if the set is a newer model and expensive then it might be worth fixing with a new board. My rule of thumb is not to spend more then 50% of the replacement cost to repair. Try and get a rough estimate for free and decide if it is worth it. Good Luck

H line problem

I think you are describing 'no vertical deflection.' If all you have on the screen is a single horizontal line, the vertical deflection circuit (or IC) has died. Unless you have service documentation on hand, I can't give a part number to replace but this is typically not an expensive failure and if the set was OK before, it is worth having repaired.

You have a vertical collapse. Not sure if its worth fixing because i don't know what type of set it is or how old. But vertical is not usually expensive to fix. Possibly just replace vertical ic

Black line problems

Some components in the vertical deflection amp have been going out of spec with age.

The set may no longer be worth to spend money to service it because of its age. However, if you wanted to invest the money, the set is serviceable. Considering its age, the CRT may be soft, and there are many other older components that can soon fail.

I would be considering a new set.

These sets have capacitors that will go bad, but without a good ERS meater that tests these in curcuit you could be spending a lot of time doing nothing, But the most common is to find the 9 volt reg on the signal board and change all within a 2 inches of that regulator

I had the same problem and just listed the dang TV on craigslist cuz I didn't want to spend $$$ to fix. I searched the internet to see if I could somehow fix it (not mechanically inclined whatsoever) but low and behold, I did it!!! It's so easy, the worst thing about it is unscrewing the screws! Just be careful when you finally get done unscrewing everything, be cautious when removing the bottom front away because if you yank too hard, there are wires connected to the power buttons in the front. Here it is: http://www.somelifeblog.com/2007/06/sony-projection-tv-red-line-repair.html
