Ok lets assume you are trying to use the floppy disc if that is the case either the floppy disc is bad or the drive is bad. Replace the affected party. Try a new floppy to test if its the disc.

2 if your getting the error on a computer with no floppy drive installed then go into your bios and disable the floppy drive.

Make sure it is not disabled in the boot order, there is also an option for the drive itself (Diskette Drive) that must be disabled

Hi, When I try to start my Dimemsion 5150C in Windows XP computer, I received one of the following error messages "Floppy diskette seek failure Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup...

The "floppy" disk-drive (3.5-inch diskette) on your computer is broken.
Press F1 to ignore the error, and to boot from your C: drive.
Or, press F2 to enter BIOS SETUP, and then navigate through those "setup" screens to tell the computer to "disable floppy seek", or change the setting from "3.5 1.44Mb drive" to "none".
Or, take the computer to a technician, and buy a replacement disk-drive, and get it installed.

I have a dell c521, and I'm getting a diskette 0 seek faliure ?

Hi,
Restart the computer and when you see the Dell logo.Tap on the F2 key a couple of times. You would enter the system setup.

1. Use your down arrow key on the keyboard and select the option Drives
2. Hit enter to expand the same
3. using the down arrow key again select diskette drive
4. Tap the right arrow key to switch it off.

Save the same changes by tapping on the ESC key on the top left of the keyboard.

PS. In case you have a floppy drive on the computer check if the drive is empty.

Sounds like you have a bad/disconnected Hard Drive and the system is looking for a second boot device (ie: Floppy with a disk) or your primary IDE channel on your motherboard is bad

Ok to fix that go into your bios when your starting your pc F2, Del are usually the common buttons to get into the bios.
Once in there will be an option somewhere for boot floopy seek, disable it and you won't have that problem anymore :)

Thank you for stopping by Fixya! Feel free to leave positive feedback if this helps.

F1 floppy diskette faliure

On booting your PC, hold down F12... this will give you a list of devices from which the PC can boot. Make sure you have them in the correct order.... it will tell you how to move them up and down

1. CD-ROM optical drive
2. HDD hard drive

After this it doesn't matter the order.

If this doesn't sort out the problem, you may have to disable FDD (floppy disk boot)

Diskette drive 0 seek failure

Does the PC have a floppy drive? If it doesn't It appears that your BIOS (Basic PC setup) thinks that there is one! I think that pressing f2 on boot will bring you into the BIOS setup.
In there, see can you locate any reference to 3.5 inch floppy and amend it to the setting which suits the config of your PC.

Please take care as to what other settings you change in the BIOS

If you find this sugestion helps please take time to rate it
