Keyboard keys wont type. used on screen keyboard to type this. any suggestions?

You might have "sticky keys" so try this:
When sticky keys are enabled, users can access functions that require pressing multiple modifier keys such as "Ctrl," "Alt" and "Shift" at once by pressing one button at a time. If sticky keys are enabled, it is possible to accidentally turn them on at an unwanted time. After turning off the sticky keys, disable the feature to prevent them from accidentally turning on again.

    • Press the "Shift" button five times in a row to turn off sticky keys.

    • Open the "Start" menu and then click "Control Panel."

    • Click "Ease of Access Center" from within the Control Panel window.

    • Click "Make The Keyboard Easier To Use" from within the Ease of Access Center window.

    • Remove the check-mark beside "Turn On Sticky Keys" to prevent sticky keys from being accidentally turned on.

    • Click "Apply" to save your changes and then click "OK" to close the window.
Hope this helps. Good Luck!

Shift or CTRL mouse selection modifiers not working after a few seconds

Hi wdidtd,

It sounds like Sticky keys\Filter keys are activated on your machine (I always confuse the two:] ). Go to Control Panel -> Ease of Access Center -> Make my keyboard easier to use, and make sure neither Sticky keys or Filter keys are marked.

Keep getting F1-8 keypad short code can this be fixed?

You have some junk making the key sticky. Before buying anything use a hot hot damp cloth to loosen up the sticky key.

You can buy a cleaner lubricant spray to clean off the stickiness. You can do this online or almost anywhere they sell electronics or computers.

How to turn off explorer sticky keys

In the Control Panel (Classic View), open the Ease of Access Center control panel. Follow the link that says, "Make the keyboard easier to use." Uncheck the box that says "Turn on Sticky Keys." You can also follow the "Set up Sticky Keys" link to adjust the Sticky Keys options.

Hope this helps!

Sticky "o" key.

Those keys are pressed fit on the keyboard. gently prying it up carefully it will pop loose. Look down at the membrane to see if the key is being impeded by anything , clean an pop back on. Do this carefully as the keys are very thin plastic and the gripper edges are very easy to break off.

Shift key not working

You have 2 Shift keys on the keyboard. If the other shift key is working then the shift key that is not working is defective. You should consider replacing the keyboard on your laptop. There is no setting on Windows that can disable the shift key.

**Note : If both Shift keys are not working, Try to check if sticky keys feature on windows is on. Sticky keys should be disabled. To disable sticky keys, Click on start and Go into control panel > Accessibility Options, and under keyboard there is sticky keys. Remove the tick and click apply and OK.

**If "Use Sticky Keys" is unchecked, that means sticky keys is disabled.

Can't type anything without weird things happening the \'p\' prints,

hi, check that Sticky-keys arent turned on.

to toggle Sticky-keys on and off, press the shift key 5 times fast, then either Disable the sticky-keys tickbox, or click Settings for more configuration settings.

when sticky-keys are enabled, you can press shift and release, and the shift key is still enabled. this also goes for Alt, and CTRL.

so if it is enabled, pressing P will attempt to be Ctrl-P - which is print.

Error Beeps On Start Up

Hi!

It could be a problem with the keyboard that it might have a sticky key. Try to check the keyboard for some sticky keys and check if you can still clean them or else replace it. :)

Hope this helps!

Thanks,
Karlox™ :)
