SOURCE: Malfunctioning Rollers

I had a similar problem and I called Dell; after 45 minutes of telling someone he was not the person I needed, I finally got the right person. The young man told me to turn the printer off and unplug it, then turn it upside down and shake. It did the trick, I have not had a paper jam since.

-Did all the printers on your network offline or just this printer?
-Did you check the network cable that connected to your printer?

-you might try to restart printer spooling service on your print server

SOURCE: paper jam ,no paper jam found Dell 1815dn

give this a try

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Remove any paper trays. Inspect them for wrinkled or damaged paper.
  3. Also open the back cover of the printer if this model has one.
  4. Open any other doors that give access to the printer's paper path and to the toner or ink cartridge.
  5. If necessary, remove the toner or ink cartridge. Place it away from light/ sun light to avoid damaging it.
  6. If you find a piece of jammed paper, remove it by holding it with both hands and pulling firmly. The goal is to keep the paper from tearing. If several pieces are jammed together, try pulling out the middle piece first to loosen the jam.
  7. If the paper does tear, try rotating the roller gears manually to free the paper. Don't force anything, though. Do this step especially if the jam message comes up repeatedly without any obvious paper jam, there may be a small tear of paper inside.
  8. Ones the printer is free of paper Replace the toner or ink cartridge and paper trays, close any doors you opened and turn the printer back on.
  9. If the printer paper jam message still appears, then there is still some paper in the printer. Reinspect the paper path.
  10. see alternative if the problem is still not solved.

alternative :
Load a piece of thick paper, for example photo paper and press the resume button (may be diffrent button on diffrent models) a few times to the printer picks up the paper and puts it through the machine.

Understanding how laser printer works

Printing technology on organic photoconductor drum (OPC Drum) is summarized by the following 6 steps:http://i.fixya.netmabroukmedal_18.jpg
STEP1:The OPC drum must be charged with a negative charge, (electrons)
the primery charge roller apply a hight voltage to the drum.Note:if this step missing, (poor contact in the high voltage) the page will be printed all black) the charge roller is located on the drum.

STEP2: The laser beam reach the drum surface to discharge the zone of text that will be printed on the paper. Note: if the laser beam don't reach the drum,( the interlock switch is not actuated when the front cover is closed) the image will not be formed on the drum. the laser unit is showing on this picture:

STEP3:the developping cylinder prepare the toner to be taken by the drum, the surface that was touched by the laser beam are positive, they attract the toner by electrostatic force, the other zone push the toner because they have the same charge (both negative, coulomb law). the image will be formed on the drum surface.the developping roller is located on the cartridge.

STEP4:the transfer roller attract the image formed on the drum surface to the paper.Note: if the high voltage not reach the transfer roller, the paper comes out blank (poor contact), or if the transfert roller is dirty the quality of printing is bad. these is the picture of the transfert roller and the paper pickup roller :

STEP5:the image was transfered to the paper, and must be fixed by temperature, and pressure. the fixing unit or fusing unit is composed of :the hot roller and a pressure roller.

STEP 6: the clean blade or cleaning roller remove the residuel toner on the drum surface, to prepare for a new print operation. Note :if the cleaning step was not performed the page comes out with the trace of the last print page.

Poor print quality

Have a look at the fuser. This is seen by opening the rear hatch as if removing a paper jam. There is an Orange pressure roller and another roller which may be a brown or metallic colour. If the surface of the second is damaged or caked with toner, that is the source of your problem. The fuser can be cleaned if necessary, but is not really economic to replace. If the fuser is OK then there is a cleaning brush inside the Drum unit that needs to be cleaned and the drum cylinder should be cleaned with alcohol and cotton wool.

When the paper prints, the color is missing in areas. It looks like a streak mark down the page. The black ink is full color, they yellow and cyan have a white, non-printed streak down the center, and...

Inspect the rollers for dirty or damaged surfaces. Clean up any loose toner or other debris in the machine. Note: avoid touching any roller with bare skin; especially in the fuser section or the photosensitive drum in the toner section. Skin oil can cause poor print quality or premature degradation of the roller surface.

Hello: I have poor printing quality of a pdf file (my novel). I don't have the printing problem with regular Microsoft Office document printing . I have cleaned nozzles and even used high sheen...

The PDF file you try to print is probably a low-resolution pdf. If you make de pdf yourself, you can check if you can make a printable pdf. Please print this pdf and see if the quality still is poor:
If the quality is OK, than your pdf has the wrong settings.

My Photosmart 2575 All in one printer has problems feeding paper. The only way it will print is to feed only one sheet of paper at a time and to tap it to make sure it's in the right place. But this is...

The possible cause for this is a defective pickup roller(gray color) .
Please follow the steps below:
>Adjust the paper settings in the print driver The paper settings in the print driver must match the paper settings for at least one of the installed paper trays.
>>Open a document in the program being used to print.
Click File , click Print , and then click Properties . The product Properties dialog box appears.
Click the Paper/Quality tab.
Choose the appropriate paper size from the Size is drop-down menu.
Choose the appropriate paper type from the Type is drop-down menu.
Click OK and then click OK again to print the document..
If the issue is not resolved, continue with the next section.
>Clean the rollers
Turn off the product and unplug the power cord.
Open the access door to gain access to the rollers. Depending on the model, this is usually the rear access door. See the product user guide for information about locating the rollers.
Clean the rubber rollers with a lint-free cloth, lightly moistened with water.
NOTE: Distilled, filtered, or bottled water is recommended for cleaning the rollers. Tap water might contain contaminants that can damage the rollers.
Make sure that any paper rollers that rest on the input tray, which are located behind the back rollers, are cleaned. A clean cotton swab, lightly moistened with water, might be necessary to reach these rollers.
Close the access door and plug in the power cord.
Try printing again.
You could try this product >click HERE(it softens the rubber and has parafin to preserve it)

The printer has been working great - now it is printing really poor quality prints. I have had it self clean with no improvement. A piece of paper could be stuck in it but I do not know. How do I open...

if it is printing really poor quality it will be the toner.
You will need to by a maintaince kit for it.
The drum will need to be cleaned and the toner replaced.
This is something that you may want to get done by a profesional as it is very messy.

Paper jams after first sheet prints. Tried adding more paper and then taking paper out. Nothing is working. No other sheets are jammed in the printer.

Poor quality paper can cause feed problems as the edge may be poorly sheared causing the sheets to stick together and often leaves fibers on the rollers which reduces their grip. Always 'fan' paper when replenishing to loosen the sheets.
Also, printers with heavy usage will occasionally needs the rubber pickup rollers cleaned. Don't use alcohol since this can dry out the rubbers surface complicating the problem. I have used naphtha to remove the built up paper fibers successfully.

Toner stuck on green roller of cartridge so i'm getting poor print quality

You need to replace the cartridge. it is faulty. there is a spot on that cartridge that is not properly magnetized so it is retaining toner instead of releasing it. you can clean it off but will most likely continue to have the same problem. Clean it with a lint free cloth or paper towel DRY. Do not use any chemicals or water if the toner is salvageable then that would ruin it.

Toner being deposited on back of page

point check

1.Hallo your rollers are dirty and smudged

2.Is your fuser unit O.k (clean) your paper good quality or are you using coated paper the wrong side? thereby staining the fuser unit (the hot part of the printer)

4. Most unlikely but have u ever turned your printer upside down??? or excess sideways tilt thereby releasing waste toner from the bottom of the printer to the roof then to your paper???

if all is nay then remove all toners and give your machine a gool blowout
