Safe mode is only for troubleshooting. It loads minimal drivers. Install normally.

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: start up

try starting the computer normally, this usually happens if you computers power was cut while booting up, its just a small harmless glitch.  As for the returning back to the prompt try running it with command prompt. when you get to the command prompt, type (chkdsk) and let it run this might also fix any other problems that you are not seeing.

SOURCE: ??Windows won't start on Acer

give the "last known good configuration" a go if you have not already ,or the safe mode ,
if that is no good
when the pc try's to boot up it should show a key ,such as (F11) that needs to be hit to enter the recovery stage ,what ever it is do it and follow the prompts, this should recover the laptop to its delivered state ,when it finishes you can restore your backups.
however if the drive does not have a recovery partition you will not be able to do it.
So:

it may be that the hard drive is ok but the operating system files have been corrupted in some way,

as you have no windows disc you will need to obtain one to either recover the operating system or re install windows, and you may have to go to the Acer website afterwards for some drivers when you have finished.

good luck

SOURCE: I have Windows Vista installed

Your problem: "I have Windows Vista installed on my laptop."

Unfortunately, as with a lot of MS service packs, they can crash some computers. You need your windows vista disk and, booting from it, you can select repair your vista installation. This should take care of the problem. Then don't update to sp1 for a few months.

SOURCE: windows will not start up

choose start windows in Safe mode, if it starts then everything will look big, don't worry about that for now. Then go to Start>accessories>system Tools>system restore and choose a date when you know that everything was working normally, when it has finished restoring the computer will restart. If asked choose start windows normally.

I hope this helps

Try booting into safe mode to determine if the issue is still present:
Safe mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs do not run in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed. Safe mode is useful for troubleshooting problems with programs and drivers that might not start correctly, or that might prevent Windows from starting correctly. If a problem does not reappear when you start in safe mode, you can eliminate the default settings and basic device drivers as possible causes. If a recently installed program, device, or driver prevents Windows from running correctly, you can start your computer in safe mode and then remove the program that is causing the problem.
1.Remove all floppy disks, CDs, and DVDs from your computer, and then restart your computer.Click the Start button, click the arrow next to the Lock button, and then click Restart. 2.Do one of the following:If your computer has a single operating system installed, press and hold the F8 key as your computer restarts. You need to press F8 before the Windows logo appears. If the Windows logo appears, you will need to try again by waiting until the Windows logon prompt appears, and then shutting down and restarting your computer. If your computer has more than one operating system, use the arrow keys to highlight the operating system you want to start in safe mode, and then press F8. 3.On the Advanced Boot Options screen, use the arrow keys to highlight the safe mode option you want, and then press ENTER. For more information about options.
4.Log on to your computer with a user account that has administrator rights. When your computer is in safe mode, you'll see the words Safe Mode in the corners of the display. To exit safe mode, restart your computer and let Windows start normally.

How to make windows installer work in safe mode

Windows Installer will not work under Safe Mode, this means that programs cannot be installed or uninstalled in safe mode without giving a specific command using msiexec in command prompt.

To make Windows Installer work under safe mode, you need to create a registry entry for every type of safe mode you are logged in to.

1.Safe Mode.

Type this in a command prompt:

REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\MSIServer" /VE /T REG_SZ /F /D "Service"
and then
net start msiserver
This will start the Windows Installer Service.

2.Safe Mode with Network
REG ADD "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Network\MSIServer" /VE /T REG_SZ /F /D "Service"
and followed by
net start msiserver
This will start the Windows Installer Service.

I am not able to install any antivirus in my pc.what to so ?

First, let's see if you can download and run your Anti-Virus Program in Safe Mode. Safe Mode is a diagnostic feature built into Windows to help diagnose problems - particularly problems encountered at startup. When you start windows in Safe Mode, Windows loads only the programs and files necessary to start and run Windows. All unnecessary drivers are not loaded, so certain Windows features may not be available, however, if Windows boots (starts up) in safe mode, you know that your machine is not "brain dead" and you have a basically functional computer.
To start Windows in Safe Mode, start tapping the F8 key as soon as you apply power to your PC. Continue tapping until you se a menu titled "Windows Advanced Options Menu". Using the arrow keys, scroll up until Safe Mode With Networking is highlighted and then press the Enter key. You will see a lot of messages scroll down across your monitor screen. After about a minute you should see a Desktop Dialog box stating "Windows is running in Safe Mode." Click on "Yes" to continue, and Windows will start up in Safe Mode.
Now try to download and run your Anti-Virus program. If it will not load or run, it's because a virus has control of your operating system and is blocking your attemps to remove it. You will have to take your PC to a Computer Technician who will be equipped with the necessary tools and software to remove your virus. Your only other choice is to use your System Restore CD to completely re-format your hard drive and restore your PC to the state it was in when you first got it. NOTE: This will delete all data on your hard drive and you will have to re-install all software programs that you installed on the machine since to first got it.

Continuously rooboot itself?

Hi.

When the laptop keeps rebooting shortly after Windows starts loading the reason is usually because the system files loaded by Windows at startup are corrupted.
Windows cannot complete booting and keeps restarting.
The fastest way to Fix the problem is by reinstalling Windows.
If Windows is installed on the same directory of the existing system performing an upgrade installation, the setup process will preserve all personal files, most installed software and settings.
Before reinstalling Windows you can try starting in safe mode (eg. on XP pressing f8 on startup). If the computer starts in safe mode, go to system restore and perform a restore to a date before the problem occurred. Unfortunately when the computer keeps re-booting ut will hardly start in safe mode. Often reinstalling Windows is the only option available.

Taito legends 2 vista

Try reinstalling it while in Safe Mode. First uninstall Taito Legends 2 from your computer using the uninstall program that comes with the game. Once that's done, restart the computer and start it in Safe Mode. You can do this by pressing F8 as soon as the computer restarts and then choosing the Safe Mode option from the start up list. Once in windows starts in Safe Mode you can then reinstall Taito Legends 2 . Once it is completely installed restart the computer in normal mode and the game should now run. I hope this works for you.
