Unfortunately, the E4 error is an internal hardware failure. You can try to reset the unit by unplugging the base station's power supply. Remove the phone line cord from the base. Finally remove the batteries from all of the handsets. Wait at least 15 minutes before you reconnect the power, batteries and telephone cable. Place one handset on the base. Wait one minute and check if the phone works.
If you see a message about searching for the base or out of range, then the problem is probably with the transmitter/receiver in the base. In any case, if the TRU9485 is still under warranty (one year), contact Uniden. Otherwise, replace the cordless phone system.
1-Press the hangup key (represented by a red phone) and the "#" key at the same time for at least five seconds.
2-Select "Deregister hs." Choose the handset and press the "Select" key (which also shows an envelope for messages).
3-
Choose "Yes" to confirm deregistration. The phone clears its registration information from the base and deletes the link from its memory. The message "Handset not registered -- place handset on base to register. See owner's manual for help" now shows on the display. If you are out of range of the base, "Out of range" shows.
4-Place the handset in the base charging cradle. The phone automatically selects a new security code from those stored in the base.
5-Make sure your phone is working again after "Registration Complete" shows on the display
Hope this will Help.
Thank you for using Fixya !!!
If you are not too far away-not "out of range" then try rehoming/pairing the handset with the base unit. You probably need the phones together to do this. Your manual will explain how-it will have been done in the original setup.
Please check that you have correctly registered the second handset to the base. It may be necessary to de-register the second handset and then re-register it. "Out of range" just means the second handset is not within range of the base phone it was registered to.
It needs to be re-synced to the base unit. Check manual for exact directions, but it could involve anything from unplugging battery and base unit power, resetting in cradle, and anything else......
Unplug the battery. Hold down The * (star) and the #(hash) keys simultaneously. Re-connect the battery, phone will beep and screen will be blank. Press the voicemail (righthand silver key under the lcd screen). As above EEPROM/RAM message will appear. Place handset on base and your problem is solved.
