Maytag uses an auto balancing mechanism, based on the rear legs. These legs should move freely. Lay the machine on its side, and try to move the rear legs. If they won't move and appear rusty, then spray penetrating oil on both legs and move them until they move freely.
make sure all shipping pins are out the tub should move all around from side to side if it level still bangs its eather the balance ring top basket are there 3 slides on a plate above the motor just put some silacone oil on tham move around
This is a repeat, but maybe the same result. Remove the front cover (usually two clips between the top and the front, move it around) and check each of the springs that hold the unit to the base. Have found that just one spring would cause a out-of-balance condition. When you open the lid, does the basket seem to be leaning one way or the other? If so, look on the side that shows more than the other. Also, reach in and grab the inner basket to see if it seems loose. Have had the basket drive mount break halfway through and caused it to roll really bad. Let me know what you find out, or if you need futher help. Jim
