I think I have a bad door swtich on a frigidaire microwave

How do I replace/repair it?

switches not working properly. Total of 3 switches. not sure which is defective. If I pull too much (a hair) the cook indicator turns off yet the light, fan, and turn table work but not cooking. I close the door, press the start and countdown and cooking indicator work. I pull the door slightly and it engages light, fan, turntable but turns off cooking and timer countdown.
Once and only once, I was able to pull the door slightly and all systems go. heated the cup of water. So, the microwave works but something is wrong with the door micro switches correct? How do I get the switches? Do I need to replace all? There is 1 at the top hinge and 2 at the bottom hinge. I believe 1 of the 2 at the bottom is malfunctioning. help

Un plug the oven, un screw the screws and remove the cover, look behind the door where it closes and you will see a micro switch, and two wirers, note where the wires and screw is located and remove them. get a replacement switch NOTE!! make certain that it is the same type of switch ie. normaly open or nomaly closed. carry the switch you to get the replacement. replace the switch and the wires. if you want to verifry that the switch is defective you can have it tested when you go to the spares store to obtain the new one.

Frigidaire microwave door is sagging

Hello Irfan, thank you for your post!

From the information you have provided the door on your Frigidaire microwave is sagging. Your door could be sagging due to the hinges or the door being damaged. I would check to make sure there is no visible damage. It is possible that the hinges and door may need to be replaced as well. New microwave got condensation between glass panels. Got new door happened again. I think it's a design defect. How can I disassemble to clean as needed?

To be honest-- it's not worth the effort. Some doors do come apart and some are glued together. If the replacement door is only listed as a complete door it doesn't come apart. If it does come apart, it requires prying the plastic frame off the inner side of the door to get to the screws. The frames usually crack if you are not careful. Contact Frigidaire customer relations and explain the problem and see what they have to offer either as a repair or explanation.

Frigidaire Mod: FGMV174KFB Door won't latch

Good Morning Friend,

I understand the door will not latch on your Frigidaire microwave, model# FGMV174KFB. Typically, this would not be a do it yourself repair, as you are working with your microwave, and there are no step by step repair instructions. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They have been trained on your appliance and should be able to fix the latch on your door with ease. Hope this is helpful.

-Best Regards-

All the lights and buttons on the front of my Frigidaire PLMBZ209GC work but the turn table does not turn and the fan does not run and it does not heat. It counts down and the cook light beside the timer...

Hello :

That problem could happen because of a bad door switch .
There are plastic mounts inside the microwave which hold the door switches and onto which the door latches lock when you close the door.

The screws on these mounts may be loose. If they get too loose, the switches will not be activated properly .

That could happen because of slamming the door and not closing it gently .

WARNING : A microwave oven is capable of giving you a serious electrical shock, even when it is unplugged. I strongly recommend you seek the assistance of an appliance repair technician when conducting any microwave oven repair .

good luck .

Fmv156ema MICROWAVE LIGHTS UP,TIMER WORKS,BUT DISK DOESN'T HEAT OR TURN

Sounds like one of the door switches isn't working correctly. It may be bad or have been knocked out of adjustment if the door was closed too hard. You should have the oven checked by a professional. Repairs involving the door can result in microwave leakage if they aren't done correctly.

Everthing working with microwave except food is not heating

This can be caused by a number of causes: a bad magnetron tube (which generates the microwaves), failed transformer or other power supply parts, bad control board or relay on it, bad door switch. Microwave servicing exposes hazardous voltages, and could lead to microwave leakage if repairs aren't done properly. Repairs should be handled by a professional.

Sagging frigidaire microwave door

If your door is removable, look where there is a plastic seal or ring on the door itself. It is usually attached to a bracket or near there someplace. I have taken plastic washers and put in place, otherwise replaced the parts that are worn out on the door assembly.

Tell kids not to pull on door while in use. Harder said then done. I have 9 children and they all have done this. My youngest still thinks he can microwave GI Joe to death.

Anyrate, if the issue I gave doesn't work, try your local appliance repair store. Sometimes they can help by either repair or giving advice.

Good luck.

That would actually be F5 and it usually indicates a problem with the control circuit board or a shorted keypad, but occasioanlly it's a door switch problem. You can try unplugging it a few minutes then checking it. Once in a while they get scrambled and need a reset. If you or a friend decide to work on it further, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info (as well as a text file which helps in diagnosing and repairing door switch problems) at our site, which is linked at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number (without the suffix) here: http://tinyurl.com/gv383 The next step would be to unplug it, take it apart, and then unplug the membrane keypad from the circuit board, then plug it back in and see if the error code pops up. If not, it's got a bad keyad, which normally can be replaced separately. If so, it's the board or the door switches. You can then use our door switch file to check the swtiches.
