Question about HP Pavilion F1703 17" LCD Monitor

1 Answer

I hooked up my monitor to my Sony Viao laptop.

When I first start up Windows I get the same picture on both my F1703 monitor and the monitor on my laptop. Once Windows completly loads my F1703 goes into sleep mode and there is no picture on the monitor, just a black screen. I've made sure the connection is correct, the drivers are updated. When I run a troubleshoot on the monitor I get "device is working properly". Any suggestions

My HP F1703 LCD monitor is hooked up to power and the blue power button flickers as well as the display (showing "monitor going to sleep" message)

Verify that the 12vdc adapter is putting out 12vdc when the monitor is on to make sure it is not the AC adapter problem first. Try the monitor with another PC also. If you have to go inside and inspect the 4 TOROID inductor leads for cold solder joints, please see my pictures here:

I just hooked up a new computer and on the monitor it says "video resolution is out of range" How do I fix that? No picture and can't open screen

Go into display options and set the resolution it is not set at the right resolution for the monitor.
800x600, 1024x768 these are the settings you will need to experiment with.

Clean and resolder all four round inductors, check the caps, replace them if they have bulging tops (even slightly bulg). Check the transistors (c5707) for shorts. See pictures here: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/HP%20F1703/

Hp pavilion f1703 flashes on and off. Tried pushing F8 for 30 seconds - no result.

have you checked the power connecter at the back of the monitor?

is it the whole PC that is flashing on and off or JUSTr the monitor?

the F8 key when turning on a Windows based PC, will only take you to a screen to choose how to start windows, in Normal mode, safe mode, or commandline mode.

none of this helps a flickering screen.

try and change out the data cable (VGA cable, blue screw in plug) and the power cable if possible.

I have a samsung lcd I just installed in my sony vaio laptop. It doesn't want to display windows only BIOS. I've been suggested to that this is a driver issue. where can I get a driver for this?

Very odd, I would hook an external monitor to the laptop and start eliminating the possible driver issue. If that doesn't work ironically I have a trashed viao laptop but the monitor is still good. Let me know-

Hp pavilion f1703 blue monitor power button flashesw/ dark screen

Have you tried connecting this monitor to another computer, even a laptop. This would tell you whether the display is bad or the video card is the culprit. I suspect the monitor's power supply is dying. Taking it to a pro for repair should cost @55.00. Buying a new monitor @ $100 - $125.
