Connect hp laptop to toshiba led tv using vga and audio jack

I have a HPG56 laptop (no hdmi slot) and a Toshiba 46TL965B tv. I want to connect them so that I can watch the laptop on the TV. I attached a VGA cable so I can now see the picture but I don't have sound. I have bought a 3.5mm male to male audio jack and plugged one end into the headphone slot on my TV and the other end to the headphone slot on my laptop but there is no sound coming out. Can anybody help me with this please?

Hi,

I think you need a headphone to rca adapter. your outputting to an output. the output from the laptop has to go IN to the back of the tv to the input next to where your video input is.

How do I connect my laptop to my led tv?

Is there a HMDI output on your Laptop or a VGA output. Some TV's have a DSUB input source that allows VGA depends on your laptop it could be HDMI if so TV should have an extraz HDMI input on the back and you change the source input on the TV to the HDMI 2 or HDMI 3 source depending on where you plugged in the P.C. . If HDMI you need to buy a HDMI cable.

I have a toshiba satellite p755, it use to be able to hook up to my HD TV with the HDMI chord but now its not connecting..whats the problem?

Make sure all connections Power ,HDMI and any other connecting leads have secure dust free connections also check each lead for any kinks / bends .
Connecting a Toshiba Satellite Laptop to a TV is an ideal way to enjoy videos, photos and other media on the laptop on a much larger screen.
Satellite Laptops can be connected to TVs using VGA, S-Video and even HDMI, though the TV has to have compatible inputs as well.

Connect the RGB cable or S-video cable to an open input on the TV.
Depending on the type of TV, it may or may not have a RGB input.
S-video may have to be used instead.
Connect the 1/4 inch to RCA Y-cable into the TV using the same input as the VGA or S-video cable.
Connect the other end of the VGA or S-video cable and the audio cable into the laptop.
The video ports are on the sides of the laptop.
The audio cable should go into the headphone jack of the laptop.

Volume problem--laptop to tv

I'm confused, are you trying to use a VGA cable for both video and audio? VGA cables don't have sound built into them, nor do DVI. If you had an HDMI plug on your laptop it would be best to go with that since HDMI contains video and audio.

You could just use an Aux cable from laptop to TV. Pretty much it would be a aux to analog type. It's like a speaker plugin, that side is for your computer. Then the other side coming out would be an analog red/white or left/right cable.

Another one, if your TV supports pure aux cable (it's a 3.5MM jack that speakers plug into) Like, my tv has a built in aux port for audio for my computer. So I just use pretty much a standard cable to cable setup.

How to hook up my toshiba c655 to tv and have audio

If you have HDMI out on your laptop, it should send the sound and picture to your TV (make sure appropriate drivers are installed).

If you only have VGA out, then it will not send sound. Tthe only other option is if your TV has Audio IN (either 3.5mm headphone jack, or RCA Left/Right), then you could connect the headphone jack of your laptop to the TV that way.

Does my HP dv9449us has HDMI port? Can I connect it with my tv using this cable or what cables do I need? We have LG LCD tv.

Your laptop does not have a HDMI port. You only have VGA, you have to purchase a VGA to VGA cable VGA is video only interface. So you will need it along with the stereo audio cable
http://pctvcables.com/vga-with-audio-pc-to-tv-cables.html
Note that the stereo audio cable shoulb be connected from the headphones jack on your laptop to the headphones jack on you home theater system if you have one or buy this adapter plug the stereo audio cable coming from the laptop into it and connect it to the stereo audio in (red and white audio)of your tv

I am trying to use my Toshiba 26C100U as a monitor for my laptop, i have a VGA running from my laptop and the screen works fine. When i run an audio cable from my PC/HDMI jack in the tv to my audio jack in...

Hello,

The HDMI on your laptop is for video and not for sound meaning you only get video and no sound.

Your laptop however has a sound card built in and has a output jack after witch you can purchase a 3mm jack to RCA converter and then plug it into the TV that way. But I do not see the sense in having sound from the computer come out of the TV speakers.

It would be allot better if you had a receiver, or some amplified speakers.

You case is simple the PC will not pass audio to the TV in that form factor.

Thanks for using Fixya.com

I'd like to connect my toshiba satellite L655 to my tv, but I don't know how. any ideas?

If you have a flat panel TV (LCD or Plasma) then you can connect your laptop using an HDMI cable. Your laptop should have an HDMI port on the side. Buy the cheapest HDMI cable that is long enough (six feet ought to do it). Don't pay more for a "gold" cable, it's a rip-off. With HDMI, video and audio are carried in the same cable. Your laptop should automatically sense the TV set and auto-adjust itself.

If you have an older-style CRT TV then things will get more difficult. Then you'll need a VGA to composite or VGA to S-video. With a converter, you need separate cables for video and audio. Here's one that will work:
http://www.chronos.com.tw/_products_0616/tv/PC%20to%20TV/Pc%20to%20Tv.htm

Using the converter, you'll have to tell your laptop that you are connecting to an external device.

Want to connect laptop to tv?

If you are using a LCD/TFT tv it will have HDMI and VGA inputs.
You only need a simple vga lead but this only transfers video not sound.
You can get a usb to hdmi lead, you can also plug in audio leads from your headphone socket and this will transfer video and audio.
