Question about Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8 Digital Camera

Zoom lever stopped working on Panasonic lumix DMC-FZ8

The zoom lever on my camera has suddenly stopped working. It was not dropped etc, it just did not work one day. I use it regularly and it has always worked fine. When I turn the camera on the lens moves out into the correct position. When I push the zoom lever there is no sound at all. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you.

Does it say anything about the lever under zoom levers in your owner's manual?

Why was DMC-FZ8 made so when in the"Motion Picture Mode" focus, zoom and aperture are fixed at the initial setting? Must now choose blurry or broken (start-stop/focus-restart...)video & sound.

Unfortunately no. You can get better video if you turn off auto focus and set the zoom position to the halfway mark . This set up will significantly improve your results.

Zoom lever doesn't work

The zoom motor or circuitry controlling the zoom motor has failed. FZ8 parts are still available as far as I know.

I cant get the zoom to work on panasonic lumix dmc-z8 while filming. It only works while taking a picture.. Can you help me please

You should read the manual.

It states that you can only zoom before you start recording video, and not while recording.

This is not a fault

Sell it to a repairman on ebay and buy a good used, refurb or new replacement. I would ugrade to at least the wide angle 6Meg TZ3. The TZ5 is the newest TZ line.

Great cameras. I have the TZ3 and have never looked back.

Panasonic lumix dmc-fx01 won't focus

See the post for the same camera: "Buttons stopped working": there is a small 2 position switch connected to the zoom button. In my camera the zoom switch was stuck in one of the extreme positions. You have to put it back in the middle an re-assemble.
