Can't use google video chat with logitech 9000 pro
After successfully installing the logitech webcam, and seeing that everything was working fine, I then installed google talk and google video chat. Checking gmail "settings" and then "chat" showed that it recognized the web cam but didn't display anything in the box, just all black. It showed the microphone working though. I bought the same webcam for my daughter too and she
installed hers on google and hers works fine. She can hear me but
not see me. I can neither see nor hear her. Any ideas as to why this is
happening? I have tried using an older version (184.108.40.2069) of Logitech but that didn't make a difference. The newer version is 220.127.116.115. I am using Windows XP professional version 2002 service pack 3 with a 1.54 Ghz AMD athlon with 1.25GB RAM.I am not very computer savvy so can't understand very technical stuff. Can anyone solve this?
Let it install what ever moduals it needs to install and then click custom button, under optional software if there are ANY Direct x updates install them, also install service pack three it has a lot of fixes for multimedia applications and is the most stable version of xp out there.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

In windows 7 you dont need to install it will install automatically an it wont shows any short cut, when you use skype or other messenger for video chat the camera activate itself. If you want to use the cam without messenger than you need to install any type of camera software like CyberCam, etc
This will depend on which messenger program you are using ? Skype Double-click the "Skype" icon on your desktop and log in with your username and password. Click "Tools" at the top of the screen, and then click "Options." Click "Video" in the dropdown menu. The blue icon on the left will display your video options. Check "Enable Skype Video." You'll now have access to Skype video settings. Set up your webcam connection. It should already be connected to your computer with drivers installed. Select the webcam from the dropdown list and test it again to make sure it works. Set your video call preferences below. You can have video start automatically if you check--what else?--"Start my video automatically." Click "Save" in the bottom right to save your settings. To make a video call, click the video button on your contact list or click "Start Video" once you are already in a call. MSN Messenger Locate the "Webcam" icon underneath your display picture. Click the "Webcam" icon. Select "Send My Webcam" to the person that you want to send your video to. Wait for your chat partner to accept your Webcam invitation. Once he or she accepts it, your live video feed will begin. Finish sending the video feed by clicking the "Webcam" icon once again. Open the MSN Messenger program on your computer. b> Show or Hide Your Webcam b> Open MSN Messenger on your computer. Click the "Tools" menu and then select "Options" from the drop-down list. Locate the "Personal" link and click it with your mouse. Find the "My Webcam" area and either select or de-select next to where it says "Allow Others to See That I Have a Webcam." This is handy for letting those in your chat list know whether you can have a video chat with them--whether or not they have Webcams. Yahoo The Internet has made it possible for people thousands of miles apart to communicate in real time without having to rely on making long distance phone calls. Emailing and instant messaging are fantastic tools, but with broadband Internet access it's now possible to see one another, too. If you have a webcam, you're ready to use video conferencing with friends and family around the globe. Yahoo Messenger is the perfect place to get started.
Head to the Yahoo home page, turn on Yahoo Messenger using the 'Messenger' link and log in using your account name and password. You'll need to create an account if you haven't done so already. Click the 'Messenger' followed by the 'Start My Webcam' option. This will load your webcam, and is among the ways you can get your webcam to begin broadcasting. Click on the camera icon that appears in a chat window while you are talking to a friend. Click on a contact from your Contact List, then click 'Invite to View My Webcam.' This opens a new IM window with your webcam active. Click the 'View Webcam' link while talking to others in IM. This will allow you to see their webcams. Use the 'Super Webcam' mode when you want to send and receive high-quality images and feeds. Broadband makes it possible to see one another in very high resolution, although even with high-end broadband your computer may slow down a bit because of the amount of memory and processing power this requires. Click 'Webcam' followed by the 'Who's Watching Me' button to see which of your friends is receiving your webcam's feed. Hope this helps b>
when it shows at device manager it mean the driver for the webcam has been installed successfully , but u dont have any software installed to view ur webcam u need to install the software which every webcam vendor has provided. or if u r using yahoo, hotmail , skype tehn simply start vedio conference it will work fine.
if there is no icon in the tray for a webcam try this, Go to --->Start--->All Programs and see if there is an application for the webcam you don't say what type of cam you have but the name should sound like a camera of some type e.g. crystalbrite, webviewer, etc. in the folder there should be an app to activate the webcam.
If that doesn't work try this, go to --->START--->Control Panel--->Scanners and Cameras and see if there is any thing there that can be a camera to activate
Worst case scenario is you'll have to do a manual search and install of the camera because its gotten uninstalled or corrupted somehow, if so you can click add device in the scanners and cameras section by going to--->START--->Control Panel--->Scanners and Camera--->Add Device
Hope this Helps, If not repost with more info like camera type and computer make and model etc.
A 3 second search on Google shows that you have the C9054 model and the driver for the C905 is found here: http://logitech-en-amr.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3428#os - i.e. the Logitech Webcam Software 1.1 or 2.0.1
