You can buy any HDD/SSD as long as it has some sort of SATA connection. The differences between SATA, SATAII, SATAIII are mainly speeds. But all will be recognized by your machine.

SOURCE: help my second hard drive dont show up

Hi

Make sure it is connected properly.
Then go to Disk Management by typing "diskmgmt.msc" in the Run window.
Then check in Disk Management if there is any unassigned or any uninitialised partition there.
If you find one, right click on it and then select either "Format" or "Initialise".

SOURCE: I need to put a

There are two ways to do that:
If you have a floppy drive attached or you may attach to your lap then.

  1. Goto your Motherboard manufacturer's site and download AHCI driver.
  2. Expand this file (it may be auto extract or zipped) in to floppy disk.
  3. Then start setup normally, keep constant eye on bottom of setup screen you will find a message like 'Press F6 for third party RAID driver'
  4. At that time press F6.
  5. Setup will ask you for the floppy, insert that floppy in the drive and follow the instructs.......

If you don't have floppy drived attached to your lap then.
  1. download the driver and expand it in any folder.
  2. use nlite software to split the driver in windows setup disk.
  3. burn the new splittered setup to cd.
  4. run setup from that CD that will read your SATA drive.
If any problem just Ask me.
Thanks

Xerox 7435, got from company who pulled out the hard drive, so I am missing hard drive and the OS, how can I get in going? What type of hardrive do I need?

Hi Arthur
Look at the cable that would connect to the hard drive.
The Data side is either SCSI, or ATA or SATA.
Look these up on Google and see what matches.
All modern Hard Drives are 3.5" for desktop computers or 2.5" for laptops. Visit a site such as OWC (Other World Computing) to purchase a drive.
Only Xerox would have the OS unless you know where there is an old copy.

One bad lead can cause a computer to continue on a cycle or to shutdown or fail to detect your hard drive

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection and are not faulty or just replace them there probably old and faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electic extensions or just replace them they are probably old and faulty a computer needs its connections to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error hope this helps

According to the specifications, the motherboard supports two PATA hard drives and two SATA hard drives.
You can install SATA hard drives to any capacity you want.

If your old hdd is a SATA drive you can install it as a secondary drive in your new computer. All you would need to do is install the drive, hookup the SATA data cable and power cable, & boot up. You can then move the data you need to your new hdd. If it is an older IDE drive you would need to set the jumpers to slave[sl] or cable select[cs] depending on what your new system requires. Hookup the ide ribbon cable and power cable from your power supply. Good luck & I hope this helps.

Hard drive compatible with gateway 300xl desktop computer

I think there is no SATA ports on its mother board. So SATA Hard disks cannot be used on this system.

Without any dobt you can use PATA (the one that we used to see everywhere) can be used. There is no question of compatibility; any size 80,or 160 GB or even more can be used.

What is the hardrive used on the Acer Aspire L100?

JFontes,

Your PC has a 160Gb Serial ATA (SATA) drive.

Any SATA drive should work for ya. 160 Gb is a good sized drive, so IF you have room in the case you may want to just ADD a drive to the PC instead of replace the existing one.

According to the specifications for the PC you should have 2 more SATA connectors.

Hope this Helps you.

Replacement HD

Do you know if it is SATA or IDE? If you look at your hard drive, an IDE will have a wide cable connected to the back of it. If it is SATA, it will be a small cable that connects it to the motherboard. I think it is SATA. But nonetheless, depending on the size of the hard drive you want, you can get decent hard drives in the $60 range at www.tigerdirect.com.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate as fixya. Thank you.
