I think you just have to be careful what temperature you set your hot tub to when they are young. Too hot may not be good for the kids. My guys have enjoyed the hot tub and we have a lot of family time in the tub which is nice.

Depending on the age of the child the hot water may be too intense so turn the heat down based on age.

Should children avoid drinking energy drinks?

Would you want your child drinking a large cup of heavily caffeinated coffee? Giving them an energy drink is pretty much the equivalent, sometimes more harsh. Energy drinks have high levels of caffeine and should not be given to children.

Consult the following articles for more information on the dangers of giving energy drinks to children.

Which health insurance plan can help me cover my child?

The definition of best health insurance solely depends on your needs. There are free or low cost government funded state health plans if you cannot afford much. But these plans offer limited coverage. For better coverage you can opt for private insurance plans from some of the best companies in US like Kaiser Foundation Group or Unitedhealth Group.

My Reliance 606 40 gallon water heater only heats up enough hot water to fill a bathtub. We've drained it, the pilot light is fine, it heats up the water really hot, but it just doesn't seem to be able to...

How big is your bathtub? Is your water heater set on the hottest setting? What is the temperature of the hot water at the tap?

Keep in mind that hot water can cause severe burns. Children and those with diminished mental capacity can be seriously harmed by hot water.

The "40 Gallon" rating on the water heater is usually the amount of hot water the unit can produce in one hour. So the tank, and the amount of immediately available hot water, might be smaller than 40 gallons.

My bathtub is 2 feet wide by 1 foot deep and 4 feet long. This is 8 cubic feet or almost 60 gallons. So a 40 gallons of water at 120 degrees, mixed with 20 gallons of cold water (60 degrees), fills the tub with 100 degree water. My January cold water is 42 degrees, so it will take 40 gallons at 129 degrees to fill the tub. If the tub is cold to start it will take even hotter water.

So the water heater might be just fine.

Possible solutions:
1. turn the temperature up on your water heater- or the temperature control could be malfunctioning and not getting the water hot enough.
2. insulate your hot water pipes so that the water loses less heat on the way to the tub.
3. bigger water heater.
4. smaller bathtub, or less full bathtub.

When the start button is pushed the first few times the tub comes on. After the 3rd time or so it will not restart.

Possibly, the water is too hot and it is kicking out the thermal safety. 103° is the recommended maximum temperature for hot tubs & whirlpools, and it is also recommended that you don't stay in for more than 5 minutes. Your body's core temperature can raise and create health issues.

When the setting is at 104 my spa only heats to 98 i have a pentair mini max

Hi there.

You probably don't want health advice ... but ... well ... Im going to give you some anyway cause ... it is my dime. 104 degrees is not only very expensive to maintain ... it is also dangerous at exposure levels in excess of 15 minutes for ADULTS -- IF YOU ARE IN GOOD HEALTH. Less time if you are in less than perfect health. For children, deadly! I am not interested in what your neighbor may have told you - believe me when I tell you children in a hot tub near that temp is big trouble. Please don't do this.

Ok, your machine MAY have a internal safety that will not allow you to heat the water more than 98 degrees. It may require a professional to change that internal setting. It may also be that your heater is not capable of heating that amount of water to that temperature.

Did you or someone calculate the heat requirement and loss for your body of water? Do you know how many gallons of water you are heating and what is the BTU rating of your boiler? Gas, Oil or Electric?

If you can get me this additional information, Id be glad to do a calculation for you.
