Are you saying you are now locked out of your router, or the wireless security setting will not change? When you press the reset button are you holding it in for about 10 seconds? If so it should go back to factory settings and a local ip address of 192.168.1.1, to log into the router there should be no username and admin as the password if it went back to factory settings. Have you upgraded the bios on this router? I would start there first, this could be a bug in the software.

These steps may give you some lift.
1. first make sure that the PC attached to your router is DHCP for you to be able to access the router
2. second, open any browser and then type on the URL the default IP Address of the LynkSys router: the default IP is 192.168.1.1 the default username and password is admin
3. that will get you in the router configuration
default password is password
Looking for the NETGEAR WNR1000 default password?
You probably have little reason to access your router on a regular basis so don't feel too bad
f you've forgotten the WNR1000 default password.
However, when you're troubleshooting a network problem and need to get in to the device,
the WNR1000 default password suddenly becomes very important.
For most versions of the NETGEAR WNR1000, the default password is password. As with most passwords,
the WNR1000 default password is case sensitive
Be sure to change the default router password on your WNR1000 to something more secure as soon as you're in.
Then use a free password manager so you'll never forget your new WNR1000 password
hope this helps
