Question about LG 42LB5D 42 in. LCD Television
Our son threw a vacuum attachment at the screen, we have audio but the screen looks like there's a crack and a bunch of lines but. the screen is actually not cracked? I think, what part do we replace where can we get it? Cheapest of-course, and will the parts from an LG 42LV4400 interchange with ours? I guess it could be cracked but to touch and sight doesn't look like it. Please don't just say go buy a new one because we can't afford it!!!! Thanks

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

The short answer, buy a new one.
A new screen will cost you about the same as a new tv, if not sightly more considering your brand and model of TV. There really is no reasonable price to replace the screen and is usually not completely covered by warranty(some manufacturers don't even include a broken screen as part of the warranty).
The price of your HDTV is not that bad. You could probably find the tv cheaper than the repair if you shopped around a little.
P.S. I'd also stay away from the busted TV itself (health issues).

The set needs a new LCD if it looks cracked and swirly, the colors all run together in the area of the crack don't they! If it is cracked it can't be fixed. you can replace the lcd but I am not sure if a warranty will cover a cracked screen or not. You will need to contact LG and be very nice to them and see if they will honer the warranty on this.

Inspect where the dark streaks are on the television. If the streaks occur at the same place on the top and bottom of the screen, they are due to the formatting of a movie or television show you are watching. This is normal. Also, if the streaks appear on the left and right of the screen, they are due to the show being filmed in full-screen instead of wide-screen. This also is normal.
Change the input setting so you are viewing the contents of a different device. If the dark streaks are gone, you know they are due to the device connected to it. However, if the dark streaks remains no matter what input the TV is connected to, the problem lies with the television.
