I really can't say what the weather has to do with it? That's a new one. To improve startup try CCLEANER freeware at:http://www.filehippo.com/download_cclean... You can clean your system and in TOOLS, STARTUP, Disable Unnessary STARTUP programs. Another is SYSTEM NINJA at :http://singularlabs.com/software/system-... If you don't have these already, give them a go. ALSO,http://www.pcworld.com/article/143538/wi...

I don't know the weather where you live, but it must get cold to freeze and slow down the digits in the transmission cables! Now THAT'S COLD my friend!

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

Sure you can just re-install XP, but you will loose all of your documents and programs.
That's simple and if you have not installed anything - you can go that way.

If you want to keep everything on your laptop, you just need to repair the existing Windows installation.

This is how you do it:

  1. You have to boot form your Windows CD.
  2. In the setup screen press "Enter" ("setup WIndows now...").
  3. Important!!! - do NOT choose the Recovery Console by pressing "R"!
  4. Agree to the EULA by pressing F8.
  5. In the next window, which shows existing Windows installations, choose the repair option by pressing "R" and let it replace your corrupt NTLDR file.
If the automatic repair doen't work, then you have to copy the file manually to your C: drive.
  1. Boot from your Windows CD.
  2. Enter Windows Recovery Console (see above and press "R" in the first screen.
  3. At the command prompt, assuming drive D refers to your CD Drive, type in the following and hit "Enter" after each line:
    • copy D:\i386\ntldr C:\
    • copy D:\i386\ntdetect.com C:\
  4. Press "Y" (for "yes") when prompted to overwrite any existing file.
  5. Restart the computer
This way you keep whatever is on your computer and just replace the damaged file.

SOURCE: NTLDR is missing

NTLDR missing error usually means your boot.ini file is corrupt. As it is trying to boot from the drive or partition. You need a boot disc like BartPE or Ubuntu Live or remove the hard drive and place it in an external hard drive enclosure and edit boot.ini with another computer. The other choice is to reinstall Windows all over again. :(

SOME aftermarket batteries don't play well with your laptop, it's a pin-out/connection issue. I don't know where you bought it from, you may want to return it. That said, Take a look at this Dell Forum: http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3518/t/19361824.aspx

When i switch my computer on, windows profession window appears and say press ctrl+alt_delete to begin, I do that but nothing happens. My laptop i'm using is a Dell Latitude D630

Step 1 - Remove non bootable media
Remove any floppy disks, CD's or USB sticks from your computer and restart.
If NTLDR is missing error appears again, Do the Next Step.

Ensure you boot the system from the CD. The system will then boot into the Windows XP Setup.
At the welcome screen press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console
At the recovery console, select your Windows XP installation and enter your Administrator password if requested
At the command prompt issue the following commands and press ENTER after each command:
fixboot
fixmbr
Remove your Windows XP CD and restart the computer
If the NTLDR is missing error appears again after reboot, Try the Next Step.
It is sometimes necessary to run or re-run the Windows XP Setup repair process
If it did not solve your issue re-insert your Windows XP CD and run Windows Setup again

Good Luck!!!!

Sir, i have dell dell latitude D630 model name pp18L I want VGA software please help me sir i can't play games like GTA etc.

Here is the link to find the driver. Bottom half of page is video drivers. You need to know your operating system and the video chip you have
http://search.dell.com/results.aspx?s=dhs&c=us&l=en&cs=19&k=d630+driver&cat=sup&ref=ac

To find chip ID, right click on My Computer, choose Properties, Go to device manager. Find Display Adaptors and click the plus sign. Here you can see which chip you have. Download the appropriate one from Dell, Run the downloaded file.

My mouse buttons on the Dell D630 died earlier, not sure why, one minute they were fine, the next the left click is b0rked. Settings are still the same. Any suggestions?

The touchpad has probably gone bad. If the unit is under warranty call dell for a repair. If not, and you dont want to spend the money on the repair, a cheaper option is, you can buy a regular or laptop mouse to plug into it and use that instead.

Dell 100l ntdrl missing on start up

Hi,
For some reason your boot files are missing.
ntldr ( NT loader ) is one of the main boot files that is missing.
possibly a boot sector virus.which corrupts the ntldr file.

Put the disc back in, and you can choose to either install the O/S, or you can repair the current O/S, go for the repair,

Should resolve the problem,

Then run a full system vius scan,

Should be good then

Regards
Richard.
