The hand wheel will not turn. I have no idea what happened, got any ideas?

Usually it is a bit of thread stuck in the raceway area, take the raceway and bobbin case out and have a good look.

resest the needle depth and check the timing to insure the bell crank is allowing the needle to reach deep enough into the bobin housing

Husky 55 chainsaw

All chainsaws are air cooled. The problem is the cylinder head often sits underneath the gas tank. People fill their tanks with a mixture of gasoline and oil and often spill it or overfill the tank causing that oily mixture to coat the cylinder often. Then all the saw dust and dirt sticks to the oil and pretty soon the cooling fins on the cylinder head and all the parts surrounding it are coated with an oily dirty grime that keeps air from circulating around the cylinder head letting it cool normally. I'm not that familiar with a Husky but you need to be careful about other parts in the area, but you need to clean off the cylinder head so that it can get some cooling and quit heating up the gas in your tank. Usually there is a vent in the gas cap also and if it's plugged it will cause the gas tank to pressure up and force more gas than is necessary into the carburetor. Either clean the vent or buy a new gas cap.
