OVEN i have a GE electric start stove. Every ten minutes the oven turnes on by itself for 3 minutes then turnes off. It cycles like this over and over again. Do we have a ghost or is this something that happens?

This suggests pressing the button a second time. You could also try leaving the breaker overnight in the hope it loses the clean command in its memory.

Sounds like an issue with the thermostat . If stove has electronics perform a reset to factory defaults. If that does not resolve the issue look at the thermostat being defective.

Check sensor harness and harness connection between oven sensor and oven control. Replace oven temperature sensor (RTD) if wiring is ok.What is the model number?

I have a GE stove which I purchased in 2004, and it is doing the same. I heard beeping coming from the kitchen in the middle of the night . I went to the kitchen and the oven was on by itself. I have been unplugging it when not using it. Maybe this could be a recall.

We had a bunch of storms roll through the area and we figured a surge must have fried our control panel. We decided to buy a new oven rather than spend $200 fixing this one. Luckily, our local Sears rep wasn't in it just for the commission and suggested we flip the circuit breaker off for 10 minutes to allow the range to reset itself. Works good as new! So, try this first before you make a decision. Good luck!

All I did was to turn "off" the Breaker, wait 2-3 minutes, then turn the Breaker back :on". It seems that cycling power did the trick. I guess the the "Brain" was out of sync.

Depending on the condition of the oven, it could take up to 4 hours.

A couple things to remember is: (1) Make sure you do not turn the light on inside the oven. The clean cycle should disable it. (2) Lock the door if it does not lock itself. (3) Do not open the door during the clean cycle.

Remember the self cleaning temperature is extremely high. Do not allow children in the area while doing it.

Try removeing power too unit for a couple minutes. You can due this by turning off breaker. Sometimes this will reset board. If not, you may need an ERC board.
