How return laptop to dell factory settings

Use the restore disks that came with unit. If no disks, Dell might have a software restore option installed on your hard drive - check your manual and proceed accordingly.

I have c700 laptop but i turn on laptop automatical goes to bios i save the bios setting but no result

Hello,

Your RTC backup battery may be bad. This is the battery that preserves the BIOS settings when the unit is off and not connected to A/C power.

If your unit is still under warranty, contact your place of purchase or HP directly for warranty repair. If the unit is out of warranty, contact HP directly and ask for pricing and availability for:

RTC Battery - part # 454947-01

If you purchase the battery to replace yourself, follow the intructions listed in this manual. It is a simple and straightforward repair.

Hope this helps.

Have a blessed day.

Thanks for using FixYa.

The life of my battery is too short..that's ;;why I always use my laptop with tha charjger on..

How old is the unit? On average if used only a few times a week good for 3 to 5 yrs. before no charge at all. As time goes on the charge will get to be shorter and shorter. If used every day and always plugged in 1 or 2 yrs the battery will be dead to almost dead. If the unit is not very old then quickly get it replaced via warranty from the MFG or the retailer who sold it to you. You can get a battery (Probably) from the MFG for around $40 to $75. You MAY be able to find one at www.walmart.com or www.bestbuy.com or ebay or amazon. Beware of the auctions, some bad people sell regenerated batteries only good for a few times then trash. There is a possiblity that the "Charger" is not charging completely. If that is the case then one of two problems, either the voltage is too low from the BAD charger or the "Charge cycle" is cutting off too soon. You can test for low votage easly with a simple and cheap $10/$15 multi meter. The charger should say what "Output voltage" it should have on the unit. If the charge cycle is bad, you need some one with the correct equipment to do a charger test. Walmart, best buy and others carry some generic chargers also. If you know anyone with the same charger (best if exactly same MFG, but exactly the same output different MFG should work ok also), you can use theirs to see if that fixes it, if so you need a charger.

before you format, try replacing the DVD writer another unit similar

buy recovery CDs here

i would restore the notebook to factory settings -- this is the best option in getting the computer back to the way it worked originally going to the factory settings management portion in the system and or use your recovery CDs to format and re isntall everything

I have just plug in a monitor to my laptop and I don't know what button to press to make the monitor work? Can you help!

Here is the user manual: http://office.manualsonline.com/manuals/mfg/compaq/presario_700.html

Try Fn (function key) and F5 or F6 key, it will let you toggle between external monitor only or both external and internal. Just read the manual.

My HP DV5000 LAPTOP ON AND OFF THE WIRELESS RANDOMLY

Intermittent Connectivity:
NOTE: Before following the steps in this article, check if your wireless computers have stable connection when connected to other wireless networks (hotspots).
This article assumes that all wireless computers are experiencing intermittent wireless connection with the router.
Frequent wireless disconnection can be caused by different factors such as:
  1. Wireless interference within the network.
  2. Wireless settings of the router are still set to default.
  3. Firmware is corrupted.
Reducing Wireless Interference
If you are experiencing frequent disconnection from the wireless network, it helps if you check the following factors, all of which can greatly affect your wireless signals:
your cordless telephone system (or even your neighbors’), or other nearby equipment. Try to change your router’s channel to 1 or 11 (the default channel is 6) and restart the wireless computers.
Physical obstructions: Your router or wireless computers may be losing connectivity because of physical obstacles such as walls and floors. Try to move the equipment to different locations to find a better link.

  • Placement of the router:Mfg. suggests that you place your router as high off the ground as possible. When placing the router in a high location, leave a distance of two feet between the router antenna tips, ceiling, and wall. If your signal passes through multiple floors, place the router on the upper-most floor, and high up in the room.
  • Surroundings: Keep the router away from large metal objects, bodies of water (fish tanks, bathrooms), and any electrical equipment including television sets, microwaves, radios, etc.
Customizing Wireless Settings of the Router
Having default wireless settings on the router may cause conflict with other routers within your network range.
Mfg.suggests changing the SSID (network name) and the Wireless Channel of your router. Also, if it is possible, enable the Wireless Security of your router.
Adjust your wireless router settings
  • Lower the MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) from 1500 to 1492 or less (usually found on your router's main/ basic setup page)
  • Adjust the following advanced wireless settings:
    • Lower the beacon interval from 100 to 50
    • Lower the fragmentation threshold from 2346 to 2306
    • Lower the RTS threshold from 2347 to 2304
That should solve your wireless connectivity problems and should prevent your wireless connection from dropping.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe
