Question about LaCie Hard Disk 1TB Desktop with Hi-Speed USB2.0 USB 2.0 Hard Drive
My Lacie 1TB Firewire drive will not boot up and appear on my MAC G5 desktop. I just bought the unit on June 20, 2007. I have 2 other Lacie drives (160G & 120G) that I've owned much longer and are working fine. The blue light is still blinking, indicating that the drive is not kicking in. I've noticed recently that when I am saving data, either from the internet or work on my desktop, that the 1TB drive has been taking a little longer to 'wake up' before I can save the data. I usually leave my Mac and the drives on most of the time 24/7. I have an UPS, and that protects my drives from power outages and spikes. I did have a recent (and very brief-maybe 30 seconds) power outage 3-4 days ago. Coincidentally, the problem I'm experiencing now occurred after that outage. The other drives are fine, so I am led to believe that's not the problem.
I also recently ran my Disk Warrior program on all of my drives as a routine check about a week ago. Everything looked good at the time.
Is there anything I can do on my end to fix this problem? Since I can't even see the drive, I don't know what to do. I guess I could run the Disk Warrior program again to see if the 1TB drives shows up. Right now it's still blinking and is not visible.
You say that it does not boot and appear on your desktop, Next you say that it takes longer to save data as the drive takes longer to "wake up". Now i would like to know that when you got this drive was it working perfectly of it was raking more time to access and further it stopped working after the outage. Is this correct. I think that the drive may have developed a bad sector or the box has experienced power surge. May be u should get it to the service center and get it replaced

Run the software again, and see if the disk does show up.
If it does show, it should be recognised and work fine.
If the disk is not detected, then it is either a faulty Lacie enclosure (disk inside is good) or a defective disk.
In this case test the disk on a different computer to ensure it is working.
