Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook
My Acer AMD PC with Vista Home Premium has a problem with the back function when browsing the Net, whether I use IE, Firefox or Chrome. When I click on the back button, it goes to the previous page but as soon as I move the cursor into the active area to click on a link it jumps forward to the page I just left. Sometimes trying repeatedly gets me a successful click, but mostly the back function is unusable.
This problem occurs when using Google, navigating within a site or following links between sites.
The computer has been this way since I set it up several months ago. Windows (Vista SP1) and browsers are fully updated. I was running Norton earlier but uninstalled it and now have Sunbelt Vipre for virus and spyware protection. Scans indicate non problems that way.
Any ideas would be most appreciated, as browsing gets very tedious with this problem. Other computers (XP) on my network are fine.
I went to Control Panel, Internet Options, Advanced and clicked on "Phishing Filter - turn off automatic website checking." This fixed the problem not only in Internet Explorer, but also in Firefox (which is my main browser) and Chrome.
