hi webdevil tried what u said but to no avail,

was looking through all the wireless router settings but not sure what it all means,

    security type has WEP,WPA/WPA2,WPA-PSK/WPA2-/PSK

security options has SHARED KEY ,AUTO , OPEN SYSTEM

    wep key has HEXADECIMAL,ASCII

ive tried all that i can think of changing all settings and also putting back to factory resest and starting all over again but same thing .. it just wont connect.

also have checked SSID all appears ok

my only other way of thinking is that the ip addresses may be wrong ..

LAN and WIRELESS i.p are the same ,

    WAN i.p is different

    LAN SUBNET 255.255.255.0

    WAN 255.255.252.0

went back to the shop today where i purchased the router and the guy told me to try another ip address in the xbox adaptor which i did but again no connection.

maybe you could assist me with the right way in setting up the ip addressess if poss... many thanks ...john

Your XBOX 360 adapter should automatically be assigned an address by the router's DHCP server. I think you may be having a problem with your wireless configuration. Check the wireless settings on your router to confirm that it is indeed setup for WEP. If it is setup for WEP on bothe the router and the XBOX and the key is typed in correctly on the XBOX it should work. If it still doesn't however, disable the wireless security on your router, then restart your XBOX and see if it will connect without WEP. Many devices will have problems over WEP and not connect at all. If it connects fine with no security enabled then we will know that was the problem and I would sugest changing the security to WPA.

OK. For troubleshooting purposes, disable any wireless security on the router.

You mentioned that the IP addresses may be wrong, and that the game shop suggested you change it? This part might be part of the problem since your router is responsible for setting up the address of your XBOX automatically. The wireless connection on your XBOX should be set to Auto/DHCP and you shouldn't be able to change the IP if it correctly setup for auto.

When you test your connection on the XBOX, which tests are successful? Are you able to access the internet on the PC you are connecting wirelessly?

Make sure that the cable is not plugged into the uplink on the router. That it is plugged in to a numbered port.

Connecting a tp link wireless usb adapter to xbox 360

It is not possible to use generic usb wireless adapters with the Xbox or Xbox 360 game console. By 8246b47.jpgJohn Anderson Jun 20, 2012
The post John Anderson is correct that this would not work with a XBOX device. These are intended for and installed on computers (laptop or desktop) with which you would need to install drivers for it on. There is supported drivers that will allow the installation of this device into either a XBOX or PlayStation gaming console.

How to configure TP-link TL-wr340g on tata broadband

Hello,

If you don't have any internet access, you can reset the router by unplugging it from power and then plug it back in. Do the same for your ADSL or cable ISP modem which you have connected on your TP-Link router.
RESET FIRST YOUR ADSL MODEM and then your router.

Other solution might be to do ipconfig /release and ipconfig /renew on your command line window from your computer.

You can find your wifi router's user manual (PDF) on this link:

Please mark as solution if this helped you at all.

Thanks.

TP-LINK TL-WR340G, No internet connection

Look for the MAC address clone feature on the router. If the router does not ahve the auto clone MAC feature, you'll need to manually input the MAC address of your computer.

To get the MAC address or Physical address of the computer do this
Click start>run>type in "cmd" and press okay (without the " ").
On the Command prompt type in ipconfig/all and then press enter, look for physical address.
Then input that on the MAC clone feature of the computer to your router and then power cycle everything (turn everything off and then turn on modem first-then router-then computer).
