Question about Phones

4 Answers

Telephone SE655 worked briefly on first day but with loud hiss which developed up to a high-pitched whine. Also when speaking, there was a lot of background noise picked up by the microphone from the room, as if the mike was over sensitive. Now the base station and the second phone do not work atall. Battery checks are full. Ian williamson

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, a couple of ideas you may want to explore/try:

  • remove the handset batteries, remove power to the base, remove telephone wire for at least 30 minutes;
  • if your version/unit came with a recessed reset button, press and hold for 5 seconds. All user configurations, settings and memories can and would be erased;
  • with the base still off, re-install the handset batteries, charge the handset for 24 hours;
  • reconnect telephone wire and power to the base;
  • go through the initial set-up/registering and configuration;
  • test by making a call;
  • have somebody call you;
  • ensure that the base is located far away from sources of electrical noise and RFI (radio frequency interference).
Some possible sources of electrical noise and and RFI are electronic lamp dimmers/controllers, lamps with electronic ballasts, Wireless routers, computers and most other electronic devices.

Should problem persist, return unit to point of purchase and demand replacement.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

It can be due to ant loose connectivity in the device.or it could also happen if you have changed any setting.and about the hiss and loud sound for that u can lower the volume little bit and check out this should solve the problem.also check that the phone is properly connected to the base station while charging.but if the device is in warranty it is advisable to replace the device.

Sir,

Move closer to the base station.

Move the base station at least one metre (yard) away
from any electronic appliances.

Also check the antenna it may be defective.

Thanks
good luck

Our uniden hand held has developed a loud buzzing noise

I Had the same problem.
I found out what it was. The buzzing sound came from the AC/DC charger. I changed it and everything is working fine now !
Try with a AC/CD adaptater putting it on the right voltage and check if it's working without this buzzing sound.
Have a good day !

Any ideas what happened?

Loud feedback when All-Page. Lower speaker volume does not fix.

We have the same phones in our office. The feedback happens with our phones if the handset is left on the base. Picking up the handset and speaking through it as if your are on a phone call during the page should solve the problem of the feedback. If not, you may want to look at your P.A. system settings.

Panasonic system KX-TD 816 chnaging to ADSL line.

No, it's the same. You install a low-pass filter that is supplied in the kit between the outlet and the CO trunk on phone system. If you don't you may hear a high pitched whine on the line from the DSL carrier.

The jack in the phone system is an RJ-14, so if you have more than one line, remember that the second pair may not be passed through the filter. Also read the face of the filter to see which is line and which is phone side. It's easy to reverse them.

Handset not working

Three possible problems - Bad handset, bad handset cord, or bad telephone. Try another handset and cord from a known good phone. If the problem phone still doesn't work the hookswitch spring may be weak. You can remove the screws from the bottom of the phone and take the bottom off. The hookswitch will have a small spring that you can stretch or rebend to put more upward force on the hookswitch to make it positively go off hook. Also the dtu phones have a jack for the handset and a jack for the headset on the bottom - make sure you are using the handset jack.
