Question about HP Photosmart C4280 Aio Printer

1 Answer

Printer says 'cartridges missing or not detected'

HP Photosmart C4280.

I have tried taken the cartridges out and replacing them. There has been no fading in the printing so I don't think the ink has run out and I imagine that there would have been a message saying they were about to run out.

Any ideas please?

Sylvia

I have the same problem and have no idea where my color test page is!

I have 2  cartriges: normal 350 and 350 XL (both original HP, and not expired)
I have observed such situation. When I insert the bigger catridge I can print about 20-30 pages then I get error 'cartridge missing or not detected'. Then I put into the printer the smaller one, there is no problem (besides it's already empty, but there is no message). After 1-2 days I put the bigger back into the printer and... can print next 20-30 pages and... get the same error, until I take it out and leave for 1-2 days outside.

Did you run the print sample page used to align the print cartridges by scanning the test page?

Uninstall the program from your computer. Plug in your printer first replace with new cartridge making sure to remover the film on the cartridge Then plug in patch cord to computer, program should reinstall if need be you may have to have your disk that comes with the printer. Hope this works, Printers are going for very cheap I would suggest buying a new one if this does not work.

Printer will not recognize new blk ink cartridge.

I think either the printer's scanner(or film as some call it) and/or the carriage is faulty. The signal cable that connects the carriage to the logic board could also be a suspect. Try replacing these items one after another and the culprit will be isolated. Good luck.

Wont detect

1. Make sure that you removed the tape covering the metal contacts on the print cartridges.

2. Clean those contacts with a cotton swab and distilled, filtered or bottled water. Tap water may damage. Do not touch with curious fingers. Allow to dry.

3. Reinsert, Reset printer.

HP PHOTOSMART C4280 PRINTER WONT READ INK CARTRIDGE.

The cartridge is not seated properly and/or the contacts are dirty. Use a cotton swab with rubbing alcohol and gently clean both the copper contacts on the cartridge and inside the cartridge socket. Allow several minutes to dry and then try again.
