SOURCE: Kenmore Elite Bottom Freezer Mod. #795 75544401

The unit was built bt LG. It is a computer controled unit and the timer is built into the main control board on back of the unit. However, the most likely cause of the broblem is the defrost terminator located on the evap on the upper right hand corner. Also, try unpugging the unit it will reset the computer board. You will also have to defrost the unit.

SOURCE: bottom drawer does not properly close

Okay, I fixed it for now. The design for this bottom freezer drawer is not good. What happened was most likely that my son slammed the door, and it bounced and was slightly open. Overnight, ice started to form all over the compartment, including inside the drawer guides. Some ice was probably obstructing the drawer glide from sliding shut.

What I did, not thinking this was the solution, was to prop chairs against the drawer to close it while I searched for answers on the Internet. In the meantime, some of this ice must have refrozen in the closed position (due to the weight of the chairs). When I went to check it later, I had a little trouble opening the drawer. I gave it a hard yank and some small frost flew off, as I opened the drawer.

It was not easy sliding it due to the frost. I then moved it out and in until it felt smooth, and finally closed the drawer and it stayed in the shut position.

Kids are instructed to close the drawer gently and visually check that it is sealed. There is also an air passage between the refrigerator unit and the freezer so that when you close the double french doors, some air pushed to the freezer section and momentarily pops the drawer open. You should make sure that the drawer closes before leaving the kitchen. If you are on vacation, prop chairs to make sure both the freezer drawer and the french doors stay closed. This is important if you're in an earthquake area as a small tremor could open the doors and you'll get a fire when the lights stay on and burn through the wiring (as others have noted).

SOURCE: Kenmore Elite bottom freezer drawer won't shut

Has something fallen behind the drawer, and is preventing it from sliding back all the way? Remove the drawer by pulling it all the way out and lift it up and out. Look for anything that has fallen back there.

SOURCE: Kenmore elite bottom freezer. Frost, Ice tray

The adjusta cube ice maker has an on/off switch. To stop the ice from overfilling and being knocked off when you open the freezer door turn the ice maker off and then back on as needed.

How to remove bottom (freezer) door on my subzero refrigerator/freezer

With the door closed. Remove the cover over the bottom door hinge by removing the two screws holding it in place. This also allows the door closing mechanism to be removed. Rotate the door closer away from the refrigerator and slide straight down. Now open the freezer door. Take a pencil and mark around the hinge on top of the freezer door so you will know where to put the hinge back in place later. Remove the three large hinge screws and two small shipping screws. This will release the door on the top. Rotate the door away to get free from the hinge and pull the entire door straight up.

Adjusting doors to stay closed

It is not a matter of adjusting the doors. It is a matter of adjusting the legs so that the front legs are taller than the back. This causes the entire refrigerator to tilt toward the back, which is what makes the doors close by themselves. Your installer should have done this for you, as it differs between locations. It takes at least 2 people to do this: one person tilts the refrigerator back by pushing on the front of the freezer door, and the other person carefully rotates the front legs of the refrigerator until they lengthen about 1/2 inch - each! You might have to slide the whole refrigerator forward to give you some space behind it to allow tilting. Don't adjust the rear legs - not needed unless someone has unthreaded them in error, or for some unknown reason.

Hello, check the freezer sliding door rail. Removed everything in your freeze then gently slide out the freezer door. Check the bottom of the freezer for food items that may have dripped into the bottom of the freezer. Now, the check the roller rails along each side of the freezer there could have been widget that got smash by the roller on the freezer door, if you find this smashed widget--he not drunk--he is dead. Scrape the those roller rails and clean the and get all the globs, ice cream, widgets, pieces of other different types of freezer flub.
Next, set a level on the freezer door and see if the bubble is point forward, if not then screw up the front two leveler in the front of the freeze--one on each side in the front of the freezer/refrigerator. I hope this help you. GB...stewbsion

Sears trio elite ...french doors with bottom freezer...right side loose on freezer door handle...thanks

I have the same refrig. After taking the freezer basket hinges off, thinking I had to take the whole door a part to access the screws for the husband figured that the handle probably slides off...and yes that is just what it does!
Push the handle in a bit and then slide to the right. It takes a little bit of effort but that handle will come right off. Then you can tighten the screw that holds the clip in place. Then you line the handle back up to the clips, and slide to the left. Good Luck!

MSD2456DE - fridge side warm and back panels on freezer icing up. Have defrosted and checked the adaptive defrost control board by shorting L1 and Test - click sound was heard. Believe it to be the...

Forcing the frig into a defrost cycle may not solve this problem long term. The old fridgs had a sliding door which bled cold air from the freezer into the fresh food compartment which you simply adjusted to keep your fresh food compartment at more or less the proper temperature. This simple manually operated sliding door has now been replaced by a motor actuated sliding door that is controlled by the fresh food compartment thermostat. On Whirlpool side by side fridges, the door has, for some reason, been designed so that the sliding door itself will shear or break if the door encounters an obstruction such as ice in the sliding track. Those geniuses designed it so that the door will always fail in the CLOSED position. This means that if this door breaks, the door letting cold air from the freezer into the fresh food compartment will stay closed and not permit any cold air to enter the fresh food compartment and all your food will spoil. The stupid fridge, will continue to run and run because the thermostat in the fresh food compartment will continually call for more cold air, which is just not available due to the broken door. Eventually, the freezer coils will completely ice up and you will see frost on the outside of the panels that cover the coils. If the door is broken, defrosting the freezer will NOT result in any cooling of the fresh food compartment because the door is closed. To check, use a mirror to see if the door is open. The door is typically on the upper back corner of the fresh food compartment on the freezer side. It will have louvers on it. Using a mirror and a flashlight, you should be able to see if the door is open. If it is closed, using a small screwdriver, you should be able to move it open (unless it's iced up). If you can easily move it open with the screwdriver, the door is definitely broken. At this point you have two alternatives. One is to replace the unit and be very careful about too frequent door openings and overloading the frig with food that is warmer than room temperature. These motor controlled units are not cheap. I should know having bought three of them before getting smarter. The other alternative is to attempt to rebuild and/or repair the sliding door assembly. Dis-assembly is accomplished by carefully cutting off the styrofoam front with a box cutter or something similar. This will expose the door and motor assembly. You can either try and glue another piece of plastic where the readily identifiable broken piece was, or attempt to fabricate a whole new door from a suitable piece of plastic. In any case, finish the job by applying lots of silicone lubricant to the door and door tracks to keep it from sticking again. Simply taping on the styrofoam front is good enough till the next time. I hope this helps you with your problem.
