Question about Fisher and Paykel Washing Machines
I have a Fisher & Paykel smartdrive 501 washing machine, the machine stops on the rinse cycle & it try's to spin but stops and beeps. I have put it into diagnostic mode & this is the code that comes up. OOIOIOII. Any answers would be great thanx.
This is copied from service manual:
43. (00101011) Phase 1 to 5 - Out Of Balance Switch Fault
The Motor Controller has found that the signal returning from the out of balance switch indicates that the switch is permanently ON or the harness to it is disconnected.
Primary Source - Mechanical
1. Check Smartdrive is level and that the bowl is not contacting the out of balance lever.
2. Check that the bias spring is correctly located between the wrapper and the outer bowl.
3. Check that the out of balance switch is free to move. Check switch operates correctly when
activated. Replace switch if suspect. If the out of balance switch shows signs of corrosion
replace the switch. Check the harness to the switch is connected correctly. If the harness
terminals show signs of corrosion, then fit a new harness.
4. Check the suspension is not catching.
Secondary Source - Motor Controller. (Display Module Phase 1).
Action - Replace Motor Controller. (Display Module Phase 1).

SOURCE: my fisher and paykel smartdrive
with no error code ... I would check you drain pump or drain hose... you first may want to try a shop vac connected to the end of a drain hose .. let me know if it helps

Does the pump empty the machine, if not you may have a faulty pump, these have no protection againt water coming from above and regularly fail

That fault is the pump blocked error (no change in water level).
i have a quick and easy way to solve this problem.
first turn the machine off then tilt the machine back and lean it on something(a chair or wall), look underneath, in the top right hand corner of the plastic outer boul you will see a small pump motor it has a fan on it spin this fan and if it is hard to turn that means there is somthing stuck in the drain pump keep turning the fan and try to free whatever is stuck in the pump, then try the machine on spin again all goin well the object in the pump should come out with the drain water(doing this will not harm the machine) if the object is still stuck you will need to get the water out of the machine (bailing or siphioning will work) and tilt the machine back again and take the wires off the pump and there should be a white tab on the boul holding the pump on pull this tab and twist the pump anticlockwise about a quarter turn(you will need a few towels or a boul or bucket to catch the water) and it should come off exposing the blockage.
Hope this solves your Problem.

Unplug the machine have someone tilt the machine back and look under the machine for a little fan on a motor give it a turn to see if it spins it might just be sticky or it may need replacing.
